Is it a pretty standard 3% fx charge?
£1000 abroad is 25000 miles? Hmm, may need to get one.

there was a fee but I can't remember how much, I did however calculate the difference in paying cash with the local exchange rate vs card with the commercial rate and the fee and there was hardly anything in it as the comercial rate was much better than the local exchange rate (rupees). I don't know if the same logic would follow through in other currency.
As it's usually spend towards my 2-4-1 the fees are worth it & in this instance, they definately were.

Just had my third statement and no sign of the 50% fee refund - spoke to customer services who firstly told me that none of their cards charge an annual fee and then denied all knowledge of the offer until I gave him the url of the web page where it still shows.
After 15 minutes on the phone, they have agreed that I should get the refund and it will be manually credited - my account has apparently been "re-screened" after opening, which may have caused a problem...

On my January statement I spent ~ £1670, of which ~£1000 was in foreign currency and ~£670 in UK£. I receved shortly after 3307 avios in my account which makes sense at £1000 x 2.5 and £670 x 1.25. Then roughly 6 weeks later, I received my bonus avios which was 29763 i.e. 9 times my original award. Therefore I can say with certainty that I received 25x avios for foreign spend on ym Jan statement. My Feb statement looks to be the same.
Whether they have decided as a policy to give 25x avios for foreign spend or whether I and others got lucky because due to the massive messup in awarding the bonus miles, I do not know.

The Lloyds $ rate is pants but I'm looking forward to the 250,000 avios from my £10k US spend last week!

One more Lloyds TSB annoyance - when you put a foreign purchase on the card, the exchange rate and original currency amount are not shown on the recent transactions online!
