Queen in Australia

What happens to the plane now? I assume it will used to go to Brisbane and Melbourne?

Will it be same crew throughout the trip?

Were there any BASSA members on board to hand out hot towels?

Looking relaxed, the Queen emerged from the entrance of a chartered British Airways Boeing 777 plane into brilliant sunshine and warm conditions.
There was a slight mishap to the carefully planned ceremonial welcome as the aircraft missed its marker on the tarmac and when the air stairs were driven up against its side part of the red carpet disappeared under the vehicle's wheels.

Thought this thread was going to be about BBB changing to WW fleet

They could use the plane while HM's off doing stuff. Qantas are rapidly running out of aircraft due to the engineer's strike!

What's a daily lease on a 777 worth nowadays?

Good question!

They flew into Canberra on a reconfigured Boeing 777 that had been fitted with beds so that they could rest during the flight. However, during the 10,500-mile trip to the other side of the globe the British Airways charter stopped off only once to briefly refuel in Singapore.

Correct. BA strip out the cabin on either the 777 or 747 and have a royal suite that can be fitted.

(Knew that all those re-runs of bbc airport on sky wouldnt be wasted !!)

And here was me thinking that Roger Taylor and Brian May had hooked up with Marc Martel for a concert in Sydney.

How many other people travel with them in their entourage?

Obviously it won't be the size of the US President entourage of 500.

Having been on the chartered 146 she uses everywhere else which was nothing special (compared to what BAE Systems can offer on them), I don't really understand why a regular 777 with NF is not good enough.

However, I suppose there is always room for improvement

I wonder if they had the whole cabin booked out? Surely they must have - can't imaging you could have business folk and BA Miles travellers in the same cabin as HRH sleeping...
