I'm trying to work out if (barring a/c substitutions) it can be verified before the booking process, through the seat map function on either KVS or even in the booking process via the BA "choose your seat" option.

If the guide is to be believed, 80% of the LGW-JFK flights now have a "refreshed" WT+ and upgraded IFE, but I'm really not convinced that's accurate, hence the question...
None of the aircraft type used on this route have the upgraded IFE or seats.

Is the confusion here between LGW-JFK and LHR-JFK? LGW-JFK is very unlikely to have upgraded IFE or seats (only possible if an LHR a/c has, exceptionally, been allocated to the operation). LHR-JFK is much more likely to do so. All LHR-JFK flights are 4-class operated by a 747 or 777.* Most of the 4-class 777s at LHR have the new IFE and seats. As for the 747s, LHR-JFK is the route perhaps most likely to get the 86J fleet which also have the new IFE and reworked seats.

*So far as I know; any deviation from this would be something of an edge case.

I think the LGW JFK route is operated by a 3 class B777, none of these have been upgraded.

LGW-JFK will be the first flight with a densified B772 in May 2018. Not sure if these will have new WT+ seats and IFE.

Assuming I've read this long thread correctly if MMB is showing me on a 777-200 with 40 seat WTP and a 14 seat First class cabin departing from LHR it will be new WTP (subject to unexpected aircraft substitutions)?

Route is LHR-DXB Flight BA107.

Can anyone confirm if I've interpreted this thread correctly?

Correct, there are 5 or 6 of these that have not been upgraded but are normally based at LGW.

BA0297 seems to get 200, 200ER and 300 versions depending on date, so a bit of a lottery.
AA's Dreamliners should get PE some time this year.
