Horrible landing (twice!)

Just landed on the BA 8723 from GLA to LCY ... in Stansted! Bumpy the whole descent, getting pretty nasty on approach, followed by a late aborted landing and then off to Stansted for round 2! I don't usually mind a bump or two but today was the worst for a while. Glad I skipped the breakfast!

However glad to see that BA got it right again ! safety first and all, have a go, pull out and then head off to STN

Looking out the window I don't doubt that it was bumpy.

Going slightly off topic, is LHR ever an alternate for LCY? I guess STN has the advantage of a train to Liverpool Street which is obviously better for the City than Paddington.

If LCY is closed, as far as I am aware, most, if not all, flights divert to STN; even the odd JFK one (even though the crew would prefer to use LGW).

Any aircraft planning to nominate LHR as a diversion field, even for planning purposes must have authority to do so. It is unlikely, in the extreme, that LHR would accept an aircraft diverting for weather or fuel reasons due to the constrained nature of the airfield. An emergency diversion following a Mayday would be accepted as lifesaving measures always come first.

Similarly "bumpy" today landing into MAN. Nothing that I haven't experienced before, or as bad as landing in the gales on runway 27 at GLA Good luck for this evening/tomorrow!
