Saudi: Drinks on arrival/departure

I was wondering what the policy is on serving/consuming alcoholic drinks on BA Saudi flights. Do CC continue serving alcohol in line with other routes or do they have to stop when in Saudi airspace?

I imagine the majority of passengers on an ex-Saudi flight will be gagging for a stiff drink or six . And I reckon it's not the best idea to turn up at Saudi immigration half cut either.

The rule is that we don't serve any alcohol while in Saudi airspace.

No, only on flights to and out of Saudi.

Thanks - so no pre-departure champagne Any idea how long it takes to get out of Saudi airspace - are we talking 15 minutes or over 30? Not that I'll need a drink of course

Out of JED it's very quick as the flight path is over the red sea. Out of RUH it's longer. I'd guess 30-45 mins before you hit Jordan. It's a rather big country.

No booze (الكحل) approximately 60-90 minutes to/from RUH depending on the flight path.

Is one to assume by that wink that the flight will be remarkably quick at getting out of Saudi airspace, if you know what I mean?

i.e. the crew don't actually wait until the flight is outside of Saudi airspace?

Googling this one discovers not only that the word "alcohol" is ultimately derived from Arabic, but also that the no-alcohol rule doesn't apply to some ultra long-haul destinations, thank god:

Not that I am going anywhere remotely close to Saudi, but just out of curiosity, even if the BA does not serve drinks in Saudi airspace, what if a pax uses his/her own supplies? It would be a shame if that were not allowed, as long as the pax is on board a BA aircraft.

I thought that you were not allowed to consume your own alcohol in any plane??.
