Crew wearing hats

On my flights to Hamburg in the first week of July, I noticed that the crew were wearing hats during boarding and disembarkation. I've never noticed them doing this ever on these flights before. Someone special on board?

That'll be a 'mixed fleet' crew. Quick search on those terms will reveal all!

So, are these the only times when hats are worn now?

  • Mixed Fleet crews
  • Club World LCY services
  • special / VIP / purple flights

Yes...

Although crewmour is that all ladies will wear them at some point in the future, and they are to be "balloted" as to if they want to wear them or not.

Personally, I think they should be worn by all female crew.

I heard the opposite to that BBB.

I thought it was decided that it would cost too much to give us all hats and that in 2012/2013 they are bringing in a new uniform for all! I doubt BA will give any of us a vote whether we want one or not. I think they will be the ones making that decision! We shall just have to wait and see.

However I personally don't mind at all wearing one, or for that matter not wearing one but I would like all female cabin crew to wear the same uniform. It is a very strange situation to choose to have some crew wearing hats and some not!!I don't think it is a good idea by BA at all!

I don't mind what they decide to do but I really feel we should all look the same and I do agree that the hat looks lovely.

I used to like these hats cabin crew girls used to wear. Although I did hear they didn't like wearing them because they used to blow away in the wind far too easily.

Not quite true, I posted a few weeks ago that the CityFlyer ladies are to start wearing hats within the next month or so.

Didn't they used to wear those hats when planes had fans rather than jets?

Well... Are they wearing them yet? If not, which I believe to be the case, then I believe I am indeed correct...
