Understanding Redemption Pricing

I was just pricing up a trip to Bahrain for next year using part cash and miles to upgrade, and found the following prices, which just seemed odd to me:

WT to WT+, 20k miles and 912.13
WT+ to CW, 20k miles and 782.93

Looks like a no-brainer if one is willing to shell out for a relatively short flight, but why would there be such a big difference?

It's because Economy fares are limited to the most expensive fare buckets for MFU but WTP allows MFU from discounted fare buckets... so it only cost me 590 plus 25,000 miles to get to India and back in club!

Done well! Managed 710 in CW return with MFU
