Seat Selection Payment worth it for BA0273 CDG-SAN?
 

I'm flying on July 5th from CDG to SAN on BA 273 and I have the option of buying a seat for $30 a piece, $60 total for us both. Its a long flight so I would like to sit next to my wife but it also looks like its pretty empty so I don't want to throw money away. I'm AAdvantage Platinum/Oneworld Sapphire if that helps any. Any advice would be appreciated.

I think that you have seat selection for free as AA platinum, wait for others to confirm it and then call BA to assign the seats for you.

I called in yesterday and asked them if I could choose a seat given my AA status but I was declined. I'd be happy to call again if the agent was incorrect.

Simply, OW Sapphires its free. If you get a poor agent you may need to refer to this page.
Not sure how it works for OW members under BAs MMB but you should be able to access this online somehow.
Is your AA FF number in the booking?

Thanks for the help everyone. The agent that helped me last night put my AAdvantage account in and today I checked and the website said that seat selection was free. Great! However, the website would not process my request. I ended up calling Executive Club again and they were able to pick my seats over the phone.
