business to first

Using AA miles, flying first class SFO to LHR. Return flight booked in business.
Daytime flight leaving 11:30 am.
Question...would it be worth the miles to upgrade the return to
first. Plane is a 747 and have seats prebooked in the upper level.
BA is still showing seats available for purchase but can't see award availability on BA web site.
I would not be using my last miles to upgrade.
Thanks for your opinion.
Bob

If you can spare the miles, then at least try and do it for the daytime return. You might score NF, and then you'll have experienced both F and U/D J, and will know your preference for future.

I personally love the F experience - just makes me feel 'special' and is something I look forward too. J (on the U/D) is great too (albeit I hear the food is rather poor these days), but you are 1 of many passengers in J. In F, at the most, you are one of just 14. And I like that.

Enjoy the trip.

Flying ex-LHR in F you will have access to the Concorde Room, which is very nice indeed.

The seat is comfier, privacy better, food better (ex-LHR is not usually too bad), service usually better.

If you have the miles, go for it. But if you are trying to do a dummy miles booking, and can't see availability in F for your flight, then you're out of luck (for the time being). Keep checking though, as seats may open up.

F is nice, but the "value" of using the miles for F is far less than using them for J. If you have hundreds of thousands spare, go for it, otherwise save them for another trip another time.

If you have more miles than you can spend (like me :o) then go for it. Otherwise not worth it IMHO.

Thanks for the input. The miles I will not miss. Just off the phone with AA and no availability. As it gets closer, I'll keep checking and maybe will get lucky.
First time on 747, looking forward to the trip.
