Help with paid upgrade

My wife and I will be flying out next Saturday from SFO to LHR, first time overseas and first time on British Airways. I've been watching the pay upgrade section of my booking, looking for a good deal to upgrade to WT+ (we are currently WT). My question is, if we find a good deal that allows us to upgrade to WT+ and we upgrade, is there still a possibility we will be offered a discount upgrade to CW? I'm pretty much gambling they will offer us an upgrade around 24-hours prior to departure...currently BA.com is asking $4,500 to upgrade us to WT+.

It's not that big of a deal to us to fly WT+ or CW, but we are curious if there is a chance.

Welcome to FT.
You will only be offered 1 upgrade (if at all as the pay upgrades may have all gone) so eg WT to WT+.

General rule most people work to is to select the class of booking you want to travel in at the time of booking. If something comes along either as a paid or free upgrade then that's a nice bonus.

Have a good trip whatever cabin you are in and enjoy Blighty.

By the way, the surly immigration folks are not your typical Brit!
