Price to US from Europe.....

Usually I'll try to start a trip from AMS when heading to the US, thus benefitting from better price. However when checking this morning, prices to ATL in Jan from BRU & AMS are more expensive that an ex-UK price.

Have I missed something or are ex-EU prices no longer as cheap as they used to be?

Remember you can use the ITA tool (See Ultimate Guide sticky, post 3 or 4) to check prices from all EU starting points in one search. There may still be a good deal out there, try Italy for example.

Prices may also reflect a UK sale.

Are you building in a stopover? That will trigger the Air Passenger Duty which is is normally avoided with an ex-EU, which save 100+ of tax compared to a UK start.

Remember also that change / cancellation terms can be more generous on ex-EU tickets, if you need flexibility.
