In Flight Catering Guide: Discussion and reports
Over the last year, much has changed in the world of catering at British Airways which has lead to some confusion about what to expect on board as far as the food and beverage offering goes.
Catering on BA Short Haul is devised by bandings, dependant on the length of your flight and also if you are on an international sector or a domestic sector. We are most grateful to BingBongBoy for coming to our aid and furnishing us with the very latest catering product information and providing a break down of bands and associated routes. So if you're not sure what to expect on your next short haul flight, all you need at hand is the departure time and the “Band” your flight falls into. The following diagram will then point you to the relevant product description.
We'll start with LHR and LGW short haul and supplement this with similar long haul info in due course.
The main purpose of this thread is to encourage discussion on BA catering, so please do use this thread to share your opinions and add your own experiences of BA's short and long haul catering. Your own reports, menu listings and photographs are most welcome - appending some basic info such as route, date of travel (approximate) and class of travel are very useful datapoints.

Excellent work Prospero - here's my small contribution to the thread...
Band 4 cooked meal, TIP-LHR, ~15:30 flight, Early May 2010.
Some kind of pasta cheesy mince/bolognaise hybrid.
Note that BA can occasionally do a meat-free meal on this route - and there is no other choice in ET (which seems perverse given that you can order a veggie SPML).

Splendid, very helpful .... but. Can the grids in post number 2 be made larger for those of us who are, erm, differently abled in the vision department ?
Or in plain English, can you please make the grids bigger? Ta very much.
Edit: Prospero and Bing Bong Boy are :-: stars :-:. Just wanted to make that abundantly clear. Thanks!

Very interesting. Are the offerings into the UK the same at similar local times?
I noticed that after 10:00, domestic flights get 'Bar service with snacks', while most (i.e. ET) passengers in Bands 1, 2 and 3A are offered those quaint expressions 'Lunch', 'Afternoon Tea' and 'Dinner', which so far as I can see amount to 'Bar service with snacks'. (Not complaining, just observing.)
