Upgrades and Changes on ba.com - fault?

My flights are booked through the travel agent so I never have the option to change/upgrade etc on ba.com

However on Wed when I was about to check in for flight from LCY to JFK, it gave me the option of changing the flight for £600. Which would have been handy. Anyway - got all the way through - even putting in the credit card details, and then it said "our systems are not responding". When I rang BA they said the actual price to do that was £2500 - so I decided not to bother.

It also gave an option, and still does today when I log in to check in for my return flight, and I quote "£399 Special Offer Upgrade - Treat yourself to a First upgrade for £399". So - that's not a bad deal. I go through to book that offer - yet it comes up as £2686.

So is there something going wrong on ba.com? Also its a bit of a case of mis-selling! Quoting one price, but then showing you another!

I have often had the Check in offer (mostly in ET > CE) and it has always ended up with the same price on my CC.
