An “official POUG” is defined (for the purposes of this wiki) as the rate that appears in red on the MMB/BA app. It is NOT the rate offered at the airport (please see http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...ng-thread.html), or the rate offered when you click on the “Upgrade my class of travel with money” link from within MMB, or the “Upgrade to the next available cabin” blue/grey banner in the app.
  • All POUGs earn full TPs and Avios for the upgraded cabin, subject to the original booking being paid for with cash.
  • POUGs *ARE* offered on Hand-Baggage Only fares, if available
  • POUGs only become available after 48 hours of making your booking, until any time up to, and including OLCI. After being checked in you will not be offered a POUG.
  • POUGs do not seem to become available for travel agent bookings, until 2-3 days before departure (YMMV)
  • POUGs cannot be requested from Service Centres, except that occasionally BA.com will not proceed with a POUG online and display a message inviting you to call the Service Centre to complete the transaction.
  • After a POUG has been purchased, the ticket become non changeable and non refundable, apart from government taxes.

Please add to this list as required, and include the month/year when the POUG is offered to you.

I forget about that CX card. My concern was that it wasn't the number on my BP, but they didn't check that.

Actually I do have a POUG question: They're not offered on redemption bookings, right?

Oh yes, they are!

Seriously, this has been reported a number of times now. But the miles/TP earning if you do this is different: redemption + POUG = no miles/TP at all for either cabin despite the cash paid for the POUG.

Interesting. I've got a CW redemption booked on a JFK-LHR flight. I'd like to move up to F, but if there are no TPs for POUG that would make it a difficult decision.

You are entitled to the ones for the paid portion if it's an MFU, so if you phone up they will give them to you.

If you get lucky they may even credit full F TPs depending on how generous/dumb the agent is

Redemption bookings wont earn you anything though unfortunately.

Why would it be difficult, surely you are paying for the additional service, you get nothing right now for a CW redemption, pay a few £ and get F service and no TP, surely that is not a show stopper.

It's a sleeper flight. Not like I'll be sat drinking Grand Siècle for 6 hours.

Ultimately without TPs and the handful of haribos, I'd be paying for a pair of pyjamas, and I'd have to decide whether that was worth it.

IMHO, if that's all the difference that F will make to you, then the cost of the J --> F POUG would not be worth it even with the miles and TPs.

£25 to First Class!

Ok, this was on the "East Coast Main Line" today...turns out you can't get a flight from London Heathrow to Leeds Bradford Airport any more :-(. I did rather think that BA would take over all the old BMI routes, including LHR-LBA, but hey, guess I missed the announcement (not travelled up this way for a while). My first time on a non-Eurostar train for at least a decade. The food is somewhat less good than BA first...

Am I likely to get offered a POUG on an redemption ticket booked in a different class due to flight being cancelled.

Original flight booked onto was cancelled so was rebooked in a revenue class on the flight that I wanted to go onto as there was no award availability on this flight. Can't do anything on MMB apart from change my seat to cancel or amend the flight it gets a can't do this on this type of booking please call the call centre. Currently 6 weeks out of travel.

Funny UG I got on MMB: LHR-GIG WT to WTP, fare difference £35 + £100 change fee MINUS £65 taxes = £70. Great value for 55 extra TPs but was pretty mad anyway as 2 days before I phoned to change the date on that leg, was charge change fee and fare difference of about £100 but was never advised of the option to UG for a further £35

IME, when phoning to do a POUG after seeing it on MMB (but not being able to complete it there), the agent has usually had to go off to look up whether it was available. I've inferred from that that it isn't something that is immediately obvious from looking at your booking, but has to be searched for elsewhere. If that's right, it would be entirely understandable that if you don't ask for it, the agent won't know whether there is anything for you.

Doesn't look like a POUG to me.

It looks like a standard fare rules "change fee plus fare difference" upgrade.

I don't know why posting these numbers helps a thread which is supposed to be about tracking the cost of POUGs.
