An “official POUG” is defined (for the purposes of this wiki) as the rate that appears in red on the MMB/BA app. It is NOT the rate offered at the airport (please see http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...ng-thread.html), or the rate offered when you click on the “Upgrade my class of travel with money” link from within MMB, or the “Upgrade to the next available cabin” blue/grey banner in the app.
  • All POUGs earn full TPs and Avios for the upgraded cabin, subject to the original booking being paid for with cash.
  • POUGs *ARE* offered on Hand-Baggage Only fares, if available
  • POUGs only become available after 48 hours of making your booking, until any time up to, and including OLCI. After being checked in you will not be offered a POUG.
  • POUGs do not seem to become available for travel agent bookings, until 2-3 days before departure (YMMV)
  • POUGs cannot be requested from Service Centres, except that occasionally BA.com will not proceed with a POUG online and display a message inviting you to call the Service Centre to complete the transaction.
  • After a POUG has been purchased, the ticket become non changeable and non refundable, apart from government taxes.

Please add to this list as required, and include the month/year when the POUG is offered to you.

LHR -> DEN : WTP to CW for Ł449

World Traveller Plus to Club World offered at Ł449 via MMB.

It really does pay to freqently check MMB, as it first appeared about 3 weeks before departure (Hurry only 5 seats left), stayed for about 10 days, then disappered , and now is back (Hurry only 2 seats left) 3 days before departure.

Lhr - yvr / yvr - lhr

Booked economy back in September 2011. Friday outbound, monday back. Took advantage of 179 (each way) WT - WTP promo just before Christmas. MMB / OLCI showed no nothing less than 1.2k GBP from WTP to CW. Enquired at airport and took advantage of the following:

Outbound: Ł449 WTP to CW.
Inbound: $500CAD to CW.

Was particularly impressed with return. That said, WT was definitely over subscribed. They were op-uping folks both in the lounge and at the gate from from WT -> WTP, WTP -> CW and CW to F.

All in all quite happy with the above, still a decent saving on published CW fare.

Is €69 based on ticket type availability (i.e. R needing to be available) or a flat price regardless (i.e. D, C etc. ) would still amount to €69 ?

Excellent!

Last year, I paid cŁ300 to upgrade to F on the 7 hour flight to DXB, so think you have a great deal!!

no luck

The upgrade gods are not smiling on me today unfortunately. I'm in WT on a last minute overnight flight YYZ-LHR I can buy to CW for CAD 750 but only because WTP is oversold.

Agents were baffled because usually it's WT that's oversold and they can offer buy-ups to WTP for CAD250. Tonight, both flights are light in WT and extremely heavy in WTP. Hoping someone can pull some strings.

Sadly $750 is a bit too much to handle.

paid EUR 225 at AMS to upgrade my LHR-YYZ sector from WT to WT+. Agents at the ticketing desk had to break out the manual to process. Very helpful.

JER-LGW ET to CE

I was quoted Ł75 for a CE upgrade on BA2777 (JER-LGW) Saturday night, from ET to CE.

I arrived stupid early at the airport, because Mother Nature was dumping cold rain drops everywhere and making my lovely day trip/TP run not so lovely

I thought I'd see if I could kill time in the lounge, get a mini dinner onboard and a few more TPs, so asked about an upgrade.

I had booked a Q fare at Ł38, so decided it wasn't worth nearly 200% more for such a short flight. Especially since I had the coveted first row in ET, with the missing middle seat. It turned out that CE was empty on the flight.

Is there such a thing as a proactive upgrade from WT to CW?

Unfortunately I am only allowed to travel WT for Work and since WT+ is approximately 2xWT on the flight I am looking for, I won't be able to sell that to my Manager...

FCO to LGW ET to CE

Had searched for flights FCO-LON a few days ago and they were offering an LGW flight in ET for Ł95 or CE for Ł160 (LHR rather more expensive). Dithered over that for a few days before deciding to go for my first club (partly because I have a long time to kill at the airport, partly for the tier points), only to have the prices shift on me: ET dropped to under Ł80, but CE was now about Ł230. Sighed, booked the (admittedly cheaper) standard seat, then checked MMB on the off chance and found an upgrade offer for Ł79. Which I think put me about Ł3 ahead in the end

They show up very occasionally, mostly from US outstations for sums such as $800.

I have a premium economy for two booked from London to Hong Kong on Sunday 11th March. I have a dispute (see other thread) but am wondering if there are likely to be any deals on offer for paid upgrade to Business.
