An “official POUG” is defined (for the purposes of this wiki) as the rate that appears in red on the MMB/BA app. It is NOT the rate offered at the airport (please see http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...ng-thread.html), or the rate offered when you click on the “Upgrade my class of travel with money” link from within MMB, or the “Upgrade to the next available cabin” blue/grey banner in the app.
  • All POUGs earn full TPs and Avios for the upgraded cabin, subject to the original booking being paid for with cash.
  • POUGs *ARE* offered on Hand-Baggage Only fares, if available
  • POUGs only become available after 48 hours of making your booking, until any time up to, and including OLCI. After being checked in you will not be offered a POUG.
  • POUGs do not seem to become available for travel agent bookings, until 2-3 days before departure (YMMV)
  • POUGs cannot be requested from Service Centres, except that occasionally BA.com will not proceed with a POUG online and display a message inviting you to call the Service Centre to complete the transaction.
  • After a POUG has been purchased, the ticket become non changeable and non refundable, apart from government taxes.

Please add to this list as required, and include the month/year when the POUG is offered to you.

I believe MLE is a popular premium destination so I think its unlikely. Always keep an eye out on MMB and ask on the day, but I'd not set my hopes too high.

While I was thinking on whether to jump on this offer, the agent got a response on her walkie that the catering was not available making this decision moot. Oh well...
I got SEA-LHR from WT+ to CW the day before for USD 500, greatly appreciated. There were limited opportunities and I heard a conversation in the lounge from others complaining it wasn't available, so getting to the airport earlier definitely helps.

Just wish BA allowed upgrades beforehand on TA bookings... like so many others on here!

Last week I enquired about an upgrade from WT to WT+ on BA16 for the SIN to LHR leg and was quoted 340 SGD.

Yes, £399 per person IF available, and as Paralytic says it's a big IF.

CW is usually 100% full on this flight, with WT+ being next full. Sometimes WT can be quite empty.

It is a very busy honeymoon route and we get asked at least 20 times each flight for upgrades.

SRG is correct... MLE very very busy and fills from the front! WT is often fairly busy but can be quiet or rammed full during the holiday season.

Op-Up's do not really happen on this route due to the filling from the front although I have seen it happen once.

At IST (not often offered)

WT to WT+ (so just for the longhaul sector when connecting through LHR)
US/Canada Euro 175
Everywhere else Euro 225

ET to CE to LHR
Euro 170 (so in line with the usual Band 4 POUG pricing)

All subject to availability of course.

Price discrimination based on take-up rates?

Was looking to upgrade a few more of my LHR-MUC and MUC-LHR sectors which used to cost £59/€59 o/w.

Now the prices quoted have gone up to £79/€79

Would anyone have any insight on whether this is (a) a wholesale adjustment or (b) a personalized price increase? I am wondering because I have been using the option quite consistently over the last three months (last week I upgraded a handful of bookings in one go).

Any insights would be much appreciated.

Have an upgrade offer from OSL-LHR (which I will take for requalification) but I am less keen on the price. GBP79 (for me)/NOK650 (for my partner). Interestingly, that translates into GBP70 these days, so surely they've increased fixed prices across.

I noticed that my BCN-LHR did the same a couple of days ago (though in pounds), as such one wonders whether this was a particular decision by BA to increase the prices slightly due to higher take-ups across the board

I was offered (but didn't manage to get - see here) and airport upgrade from WT+ to CW on the LHR-LAS flight yesterday.

However, the price was £449 whereas all me previous west-coast US upgrades were £399. Does anyone know if this is a permanent price increase or is it particular to that route?
