An “official POUG” is defined (for the purposes of this wiki) as the rate that appears in red on the MMB/BA app. It is NOT the rate offered at the airport (please see http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...ng-thread.html), or the rate offered when you click on the “Upgrade my class of travel with money” link from within MMB, or the “Upgrade to the next available cabin” blue/grey banner in the app.
  • All POUGs earn full TPs and Avios for the upgraded cabin, subject to the original booking being paid for with cash.
  • POUGs *ARE* offered on Hand-Baggage Only fares, if available
  • POUGs only become available after 48 hours of making your booking, until any time up to, and including OLCI. After being checked in you will not be offered a POUG.
  • POUGs do not seem to become available for travel agent bookings, until 2-3 days before departure (YMMV)
  • POUGs cannot be requested from Service Centres, except that occasionally BA.com will not proceed with a POUG online and display a message inviting you to call the Service Centre to complete the transaction.
  • After a POUG has been purchased, the ticket become non changeable and non refundable, apart from government taxes.

Please add to this list as required, and include the month/year when the POUG is offered to you.

Then again I rarely bother checking so I could well be wrong...
I've had hundreds of LHR-XXX-LHR bookings that have never priced for me. Nothing to do with regions on my account.

GVA is heavy on business travellers. LIS is far more leisure and VFR.

Hi everyone,

I have a quick question regarding a situation I am facing - how quickly does one earn a status upgrade from Blue to Bronze?

My partner is currently a Blue with 260 TPs, she has two flights on two PNRs on the same day sometime next month. First sector is DUB-LHR, then long haul flight from LHR later in the day. She stands to earn a difference of 2k avios on the long haul flight if she were Bronze.

POUG just been offered on her first sector for EUR79, which mean she will just "make" it into Bronze right before flying her long haul later in the day, gaining 40 TPs instead of just 10 TP. But does BA automatically regconize her status on the same day?

I am not sure if it's worth it to upgrade, since she will be bronze once she takes the long haul flight (in T)

Thanks

If she takes the POUG on the short haul the system won't update in time for the long haul sector. If she fills out an online claim for missing Avios on the BA website after her long haul flight they will credit her Avios for the long haul flight.

This is fairly standard practice and something I have had to do once.

I recently booked BSL-MAN via LHR in July, and the outbound flight was only about 30 Ł more expensive in CE than in ET. Same for the return flight, but availability was limited to the flight that lands in BSL at 22.15, so not all that interesting. Still, that's either a really cheap CE seat or a really expensive ET seat.

Am I correct in thinking POUGs are not offered on BA Holidays (Flight+Hotel) bookings, as they are treated as TA bookings? I'm assuming POUGs will be offered (subject to availability) at OLCI?

Yes. On my recent flight+hotel booking to NY, the BA call centre confirmed that a POUG would not be offered as it was treated as a TA booking.

POUGs can appear at OLCI though again I was told with a child and a vegan meal in my booking, I wouldn't be offered a POUG at OLCI.

I once got a similar offer over the phone. It could've just been the fare difference, but the price was the same of a POUG for that route. Worth giving a call to BA holiday to see what price they can offer you.

I checked availability for my flight to EWR next month, and both WT+ and CW are pretty empty. Like with AUP, can you call BA for upgrade possibilities for a fixed fee as mentioned above? I did book my trip through a travel agency

You can only upgrade a TA booking through the TA, not with BA. That is until you get to the airport where you can take an AUP if offered.
