An “official POUG” is defined (for the purposes of this wiki) as the rate that appears in red on the MMB/BA app. It is NOT the rate offered at the airport (please see http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...ng-thread.html), or the rate offered when you click on the “Upgrade my class of travel with money” link from within MMB, or the “Upgrade to the next available cabin” blue/grey banner in the app.
  • All POUGs earn full TPs and Avios for the upgraded cabin, subject to the original booking being paid for with cash.
  • POUGs *ARE* offered on Hand-Baggage Only fares, if available
  • POUGs only become available after 48 hours of making your booking, until any time up to, and including OLCI. After being checked in you will not be offered a POUG.
  • POUGs do not seem to become available for travel agent bookings, until 2-3 days before departure (YMMV)
  • POUGs cannot be requested from Service Centres, except that occasionally BA.com will not proceed with a POUG online and display a message inviting you to call the Service Centre to complete the transaction.
  • After a POUG has been purchased, the ticket become non changeable and non refundable, apart from government taxes.

Please add to this list as required, and include the month/year when the POUG is offered to you.

It is hard to say. It may be that the lower cabins are oversold (or predicted to be oversold) and so BA is looking to make some more space in the lower cabins. Opening an award seat in CW will not help with that, as it may be taken by a new booking.

If you are happy with the price, I'd take it. Remember you will get TP's and avios for CW.

Just took DUB both ways at £69 each way. Needed TP and lounge access handy too as currently Bronze. Great instant 60TPs

I'd edit the Wiki post but I assume I'm not seeing an edit button because I haven't (yet) made enough posts.
Added.

Impossible to tell - 'usual' availability, POUGs and award availability seem to be separate processes, although they should be evaluated together (at least at some point of time).

For what it's worth, a recent example of BA18 (ICN-LHR) mid-September:

- No reward availability in J for at least 2 months and did not open up before the flight. (W briefly had a few open reward seats a few days before the flight)
- Lower classes of J, and all of W and Y all zero for the same time period
- POUG offered for inbound trip once online check-in opened for the outbound (end-August) and offer stayed open throughout
- Invol upgraded W->J at check-in, every seat taken in J, W and Y onboard.

Just took DUB-LHR for eur69.

Booked on top of a 69eur ticket to go with BOS-DUB redemption for 25,000 avios and $30usd. Doing pretty well, I'd say.

Both LHR-BKK and BKK-LHR £549 to go from WTP to CW in MMB.
Not taken up on OB as had my favorite 16K, holding out for op-up IB as everything 0 except J5 C2.

I fear I have offended the POUG gods.

After a little bit of long haul I will comfortably be silver next year, I could probably make gold too but ever since my long haul adventures, zero poug on my ET trips. I always got POUG and now not one in six return trips

Wondered if it was worth adding date of info for each price to the wiki so that people can tell how recent the info is?

I was originally booked to fly in Y on this afternoon's BA198 from BOM to LHR. I got to the check-in desk and asked if there were any upgrade offers available. The agent mistakenly assumed I was in CW and quoted a price of approx INR 35,000 to F. After discovering I was in Y, she told me that the price to WT+ was INR 13,650 (approx £135) which I took immediately.

Offered $800 (~£500) to upgrade WT+ to J for BOS-LHR, if you want to know an inbound offer. A little spendy for me.

Better than the £599 I was offered a few weeks ago. I declined, and received an op-up anyway
