An “official POUG” is defined (for the purposes of this wiki) as the rate that appears in red on the MMB/BA app. It is NOT the rate offered at the airport (please see http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...ng-thread.html), or the rate offered when you click on the “Upgrade my class of travel with money” link from within MMB, or the “Upgrade to the next available cabin” blue/grey banner in the app.
  • All POUGs earn full TPs and Avios for the upgraded cabin, subject to the original booking being paid for with cash.
  • POUGs *ARE* offered on Hand-Baggage Only fares, if available
  • POUGs only become available after 48 hours of making your booking, until any time up to, and including OLCI. After being checked in you will not be offered a POUG.
  • POUGs do not seem to become available for travel agent bookings, until 2-3 days before departure (YMMV)
  • POUGs cannot be requested from Service Centres, except that occasionally BA.com will not proceed with a POUG online and display a message inviting you to call the Service Centre to complete the transaction.
  • After a POUG has been purchased, the ticket become non changeable and non refundable, apart from government taxes.

Please add to this list as required, and include the month/year when the POUG is offered to you.

Thanks.
There is every chance it will disappear, as there will be only a limited number of seats available to POUG.

I highly doubt it will get any cheaper. Less than a 1% chance I'd say! This is as good as that offer is realistically going to get.

£69 each way for LHR-DUB and DUB-LHR...seems overpriced for a fairly short flight!

Just to confirm, at least longhaul are offered after the outbound sector is flown. I have upgraded NRT-LHR many times like this and on every occasion the offer only appears in the week prior to the return flight. Last time this happened I got to try JAL F as the BA plane was downgraded from a 4- to a 3-class 777 so I was moved over to JL401 - and very nice it was too

Was offered $250 for each pax WT->WT+ IAD-LHR tomorrow night. As it's the full family and would be $1k, no dice.

I've paid enough for a 1yr old in her own seat (thanks UK APD and Fuel surcharge for someone who weights 13% of my weight!)

This is why many people have stopped using BA for their chariot ride across the pond.

Alas all the main carriers from IAD have the same issue, just differing ways of showing the components in the fare. VS & UA were a little more for this trip!

Sorry, I dont understand. Why exactly have "many people" stopped using BA?

Thanks.

I had a think about this (£79 for LHR-ZRH). As we have already requalified, we don't need the extra TPs at present and the offer of afternoon tea outbound did not excite.

However, it looks a stonking good deal, and if repeated, I'll probably jump another time.

I think the point that FLIGHTNURSE is making is obvious, there are many other ways across the Atlantic without the fuel fines, IB, EI, AB are just ONEWORLD examples.

If You are crossing the Pond to "DO" Europe, routing thro' LHR or elsewhere in the UK has little to commend it.... far better value to be had elsewhere, and if Britain features as part of your tour, then a quick RFS or Eurostar from Belgium, France or elsewhere is a cheap and easy way of achieving it......

Quite agree - I'm the same! Unless I'm in need of TPs, I'm quite happy down the back with my tiny bag of crisps. At least until CE is a cabin worthy of my money or attention... But if your ET ticket was cheap enough to start with, these POUGs can look quite attractive.

I was thinking about this the other day: BA just lacks innovation - full stop. They don't lead, they just stay still. Reliable but boring and behind. Anyways, I digress...

PRG-LHR

I have a PRG-LHR, purchased on BA.com, in two weeks, and when I click the upgrade button it says "Sorry, we have encountered a problem. Please call your local BA office to change this booking."

I understand that POUG offers may not be in the system yet, but this message is more reminiscent of when I'm on a BA flight not purchased direct from BA. I didn't even get the high-price non-POUG price.

Has anyone seen this message and then had an upgrade offer come through closer to check-in?

Same for me next month.

Do POUGs ever appear on Avios redemption bookings?

JER - LGW offering £120.31 for upgrade to CE... This is weird since at booking the price difference between B and C class was only £67...... Will probably wait the day of my flight since I'm going to be charing this to client :P
