An “official POUG” is defined (for the purposes of this wiki) as the rate that appears in red on the MMB/BA app. It is NOT the rate offered at the airport (please see http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...ng-thread.html), or the rate offered when you click on the “Upgrade my class of travel with money” link from within MMB, or the “Upgrade to the next available cabin” blue/grey banner in the app.
  • All POUGs earn full TPs and Avios for the upgraded cabin, subject to the original booking being paid for with cash.
  • POUGs *ARE* offered on Hand-Baggage Only fares, if available
  • POUGs only become available after 48 hours of making your booking, until any time up to, and including OLCI. After being checked in you will not be offered a POUG.
  • POUGs do not seem to become available for travel agent bookings, until 2-3 days before departure (YMMV)
  • POUGs cannot be requested from Service Centres, except that occasionally BA.com will not proceed with a POUG online and display a message inviting you to call the Service Centre to complete the transaction.
  • After a POUG has been purchased, the ticket become non changeable and non refundable, apart from government taxes.

Please add to this list as required, and include the month/year when the POUG is offered to you.

I would ever do POUG on the LCY-AMS if I needed the TPs.

£200 for LHR-LAX seems very reasonable. By the way, does anyone know if you get a POUG to WT+ does that mean it can then be UUAd to CW? Would be a lovely little bonus if that was the case!

No, a POUG cannot be further upgraded with avios.

Need answers :) thanks

Booked ET LHR to Pisa return great price months ago. Been watching the upgrades and have varied between £ 150-308 per person to CE
Then 2 days ago the LHR PSA leg drops to £79 2 seats only so i snagged them to get the extra TPs just 48 prior to departure and the return leg which is not for a week is still showing £308. Not doing that for 30 extra TPs. Any one with any experience if its likely to drop ?
Thanks

Surely you can answer your own question by your own experiences with the outbound. It might drop yes just like it varied from £150-308. There is also the possibility for an airport upgrade sold in PSA for €100.

Surely there's no need for sarcasm ! My experience was a one off on a flight that was upgradable for around £180 and suddenly dropped to £79
The inbound has been sitting at £304.51 for a couple of weeks and I wasn't sure if that was related to demand or not. I have never looked no tried to get an upgrade on the website before with cash. I was hoping some of the more knowledgable would have more experience on the chances of this price dropping closer to the departure day is all !
I will ask at PSA and if its available for around €100 very close to the £79 I'll likely take it there. But thanks for your response anyway
I hadn't considered asking at PSA

aircrashsurvivor.... I am not sure IF poug are offered on-line after you have flown the outbound sector, but on my short trips to Italy they have often appeared 2-4 days out (and sometimes much earlier.)

Please be aware that many flights are reverse catered from London.

I have recently flown back from Dublin to LHR and AMS to LGW and had no catering in CE which was annoying, and 'compensated' by 6,000 avios.

On my most recent flight I was checking-in at the airport (back to London) and I asked about the Upgrade, yes I could upgrade....
Me: Will there be any Club Europe Catering for me?

Reply: er "I can not guarantee it"
Me " Why is that"
Reply : Well plane is catered in LON-DON so if all business passenger turn up, no.

So there you have it. I decided to remain in my favourite seat 12F on the 737 and save myself another 100e
More revenue lost, BA!!!!

Further sticky tip, If you are upgrading before you leave, it may be worth getting a special meal for the inbound to guarantee you get it, i.e Seafood.
This in now my way of actually getting the service I pay for!!
YMMV
Regards
Skip.

Hi,
i have been proposed an upgrade from WT to WT+ on JFK-LHR flight for 189 GBP.
Still not sure if i may take it since i have quite a good seat in WT.
I would consider taking it, if i could make sure i can have a WT+ window seat. i don't want to pay for the POUG and then realize i am in the middle of the cabin.
Has anyone a view on which seats are available? (maybe through KVS).
Flight is BA0176 on Wednesday 31st July.

Thanks

Was offered an upgrade from Y to CE on LHR-SVG both ways for £79 each. Needed the TPs quite badly so took up the offer!

Stumbled back into thread and saw my old post, thought I should take a look at MMB - 650 NOK, c. £72 for upgrade. Extra TPs put me on 2890 by mid-September, with November y/e. Worth the extra so I can give myself option of a quick TP run to reach 3000 and shot at GGL.

I booked LHR-ZRH for two in November a couple of days ago. MMB shows a 'limited special offer' of £79 each way p.p. for upgrade to CE.

The flights are 3 1/2 months away. Is the offer likely to disappear or even improve with time?

Thanks.
