An “official POUG” is defined (for the purposes of this wiki) as the rate that appears in red on the MMB/BA app. It is NOT the rate offered at the airport (please see http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...ng-thread.html), or the rate offered when you click on the “Upgrade my class of travel with money” link from within MMB, or the “Upgrade to the next available cabin” blue/grey banner in the app.
  • All POUGs earn full TPs and Avios for the upgraded cabin, subject to the original booking being paid for with cash.
  • POUGs *ARE* offered on Hand-Baggage Only fares, if available
  • POUGs only become available after 48 hours of making your booking, until any time up to, and including OLCI. After being checked in you will not be offered a POUG.
  • POUGs do not seem to become available for travel agent bookings, until 2-3 days before departure (YMMV)
  • POUGs cannot be requested from Service Centres, except that occasionally BA.com will not proceed with a POUG online and display a message inviting you to call the Service Centre to complete the transaction.
  • After a POUG has been purchased, the ticket become non changeable and non refundable, apart from government taxes.

Please add to this list as required, and include the month/year when the POUG is offered to you.

Ahhh! Went onto MMB yesterday, offered WT to WT+ upgrade for $179 MIA - LHR, didn't have my bank card with me, so I just logged back in, and now it cost $670.46 again.....

I hope it goes down again before I fly. Oh yeah, on the return flight LHR - MIA they are offering an upgrade from WT to CW for $4446.02, a little bit steep for me

I've just had an offer in MMB of £399 to upgrade J to F, SEA-LHR. Not a surprise, as we're four days out and the seat map shows all J seats occupied, except for the four blocked ones.

Can I just clarify, that *PAID* upgrades either POU online, or at the airport, will earn TPs and miles for new COS (as long as original ticket was not a redemption).

Is that right? Thanks

Correct.

I would also like to point out again that the Pro Active Upgrades (through MMB) are none refundable even if your original ticket was.

Good point.

IME, they do often become non refundable.

As indicated by Smirnoff, I was offered an upgrade to one of my DME flights to CE for £200 (included £15 additional tax) when I used OLCI for my TA booking.

Given the duration of that flight, I'd be sorely tempted!

I had 62K and only middle section F seats available so I passed. I can see how it would tempt some indeed for what is indeed a 15 hour trip, even though it is still quite a bit more expensive than other CW -> F offers.

LHR-DUS £100 for upgrade to CE, apparently a BA.com special offer. I still took it

CAD179 to upgrade from WT to WTP on the return sector for a YYZ-LHR-YYZ booking. It was mostly additional tax, IIRC. This was shown as a special price, and is indeed much lower than when I checked a couple of weeks ago.

Interestingly, the booking is now in T class and can be changed for CAD275 plus any additional fare, which is the same as before.

Now, to upgrade from WTP to CW for the flight, the cost is a special (for BA!) CAD3,000 one way.

Is it possible to get an upgrade offer at OLCI (long haul)if your flight is connecting to another BA flight (short haul)?
