An “official POUG” is defined (for the purposes of this wiki) as the rate that appears in red on the MMB/BA app. It is NOT the rate offered at the airport (please see http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...ng-thread.html), or the rate offered when you click on the “Upgrade my class of travel with money” link from within MMB, or the “Upgrade to the next available cabin” blue/grey banner in the app.
  • All POUGs earn full TPs and Avios for the upgraded cabin, subject to the original booking being paid for with cash.
  • POUGs *ARE* offered on Hand-Baggage Only fares, if available
  • POUGs only become available after 48 hours of making your booking, until any time up to, and including OLCI. After being checked in you will not be offered a POUG.
  • POUGs do not seem to become available for travel agent bookings, until 2-3 days before departure (YMMV)
  • POUGs cannot be requested from Service Centres, except that occasionally BA.com will not proceed with a POUG online and display a message inviting you to call the Service Centre to complete the transaction.
  • After a POUG has been purchased, the ticket become non changeable and non refundable, apart from government taxes.

Please add to this list as required, and include the month/year when the POUG is offered to you.

Thanks. Pity, my flight is showing F5 J9. Seems to be very little chance of an OLCI offer then!

OLCI now offering 'special offer' of Ł150 all-in for same flight. Took it. Saved Ł82 by waiting until day of travel!

Asked for upgrade offer from WT+ to CW at JFK last week. Still offered at $400 as witnessed before.

Also works on redemption tickets...you might need to insist. The BA agent sometimes has to make a phone call to get confirmation.

I'm flying DEN-LHR-MAN on 12/23 to visit my parents for Christmas. I'm picking up the tab this time rather than my company so I'm on a cheap Y ticket.

I'd like to try and pay to upgrade myself into at least WT+ if possible, whats the best way to approach this - I'm expecting the flight to be pretty packed anyway, should I see what is offered at OLCI or try my luck at the airport?

Here's the WT+ seat map for the DEN flight on 12/23
Code:
[KVS Availability Tool 5.8.0/Platinum - Amadeus Seat Map: 23 Dec 2010/BA 218/DEN-LHR/777/W-Economy]

       A B | D E F G | J K
12 + + + - - + + + W
13 + + + + + + + + W
14 + + + + + + + + W

[+] Available [-] Unavailable [E] Exit Row
[W] Wing [L] Lavatory [U] Upper Deck
Also availability in W is showing as 9, so plenty of seats available for sale. Indeed the 12EF pair in the seat map above are probably blocked bassinet positions.

Are you seeing any upgrade offers in MMB?

I believe it's at Customer Services North, which again from memory is near the A10 gate entrance.

I thought it was right in front of the lift/stairs to the B gates...

Thanks for this - great info ^

MMB shows the upgrade cost as 884.50GBP which is more than I want to pay, is guess its likely to get cheaper nearer the time, especially if all those seats remain open?

That's Customer Services South, I think. I think the upgrades are handled at North, though it's entirely possible that I am incorrect

I wouldn't be surprised to see them being dealt with at both. After all, it's the same system throughout the terminal
