The 787 isn't a particularly large aircraft - IIRC it falls somewhere between the 767 and 777. It's an addition to the Boeing fleet, rather than a direct replacement. Well, maybe for the 767.

787 is basically a replacement for the 767 and 757 - it is designed to do high density shorthaul and low density longhaul.

BA are planning the latter - with orders of the extended range 787-900 series.

The 787 apparently reduces the impact of jet lag and is very quiet.
Apparently...

Sadly you won't see a BA A380 for another 3 years.

Thats Boeing spin, theyve reduced the cruising cabin altitude (ie what you breathe) in comparison with the 777. Theyve only reduced it to what it is in the 747 (and most of the previous generation of aircraft) already.

I think theyve done some stuff with lighting too, but really its a tube with seats in like every other aircraft. The flight decks cool though, so I may have to have a go.

I'm laughing at the thought of you picking a set of keys off a hook on some whitewashed pegboard, saying you'll just be back in five minutes!

You need a good hour to put it through its paces! I'll try the sim see if I like it.

That probably explains why I sleep better on a 747 vs. 777 - nothing to do with the dormitory!!

THe A380 is apparantly another kettle of fish - pressurised to 6000ft vs ~8000ft for the others I understand....

A380 is same as 747. It was only the 777 that went for 8000ft. Thats why I think Boeing are being a little economical with the truth. On the average 747 flight the cabin altitude will be between 4-6000'. In fact ive never seen 6000' because youd have to go over 40000 to see it.

On flights to mexico city the cabin often DE-pressurises to land.

Stunning? the A380? I don't think so...

The A380 while might look impressive due to the novelty factor etc, but it will never look stunning regardless of what livery is wears.
Unlike the 747, the A380 is just rather ugly.

By the way, if you really want to experience it sooner rather than later you could hop on one from LHR to CDG...

i still think the A380 is stunning its just awesome the sheer size of the thing, and i just think the BA livery will make the best of its shape and size is what i mean, i think the colour scheme will give it real presence when you see it in the flesh!

I for one can't wait to go on one.
