calling BA's flight schedule a fantasy is not particularly incisive to me. He's bascially just regurgitating the same comment of of BA mgmt regarding the wisdom of a strike and the ability to pay wage increases.

Also, are BA pilots and ground crews impacted by the strike, or just the flight attendants?
The charter airlines are flying their own metal. I have flown on most of the airlines being used and safety wouldn't be my concern. Which airline is operating your european flight? I'm sure someone will put your mind at rest.

Good luck. I ain't travelling BA for a while yet!
Dont think so. I think BA have put out a statement to all cc anyone going off sick around the time will be considered a striker, no pay, no benefits.

While I would agree with your assesment I would still say it does not help anyone who is booked on the second set of strikes! I understand people effected from the 20th will ahve had the same amount of notice people in the second set have but that does not make it a good move, they have had 3 days to plan this while much longer for the second set so it means just have to sit and wait and see!

As for cancelling now that is not an option as all 10k in prepaid accomm (mostly on a safari which tend to be prepaid) goes down the drain while if it does get cancelled I get it back from insurance but then have little to no time to do anything else! Again cant move dates as then it wont tie in with any plans and internal flights already booked and as BA have not cancelled the flight insurance would again be invalidated!

The fact for the 3 days of the first strikes LHR-JNB is cancelled means it does not look good for it running over the 2nd set, but while at the moment there are other plans I could make, get to next Monday / Tuesday it becomes much more difficult and holiday dates are like many peoples non flexible!

She said all strikes for first wave should have an email, and strikes for 2nd wave will receive an email on the 18th March if flight is cancelled or effected, if mine is they will move me to a Finnair flight via HEL.
I cancelled my flights LHR to GRU on March 19 and back on March 27 cos of strike. I'm moving back to *A as I don't think I'll make gold again this year due to company travel budget cutbacks so back to silver for me. Gotta get moving on my LH blue back up to gold.

Jet2 - UK LCC mainly flying from the North of England.
Transavia - Dutch LCC. Now part of KLM/Air France but independently operated.
Astreaus - UK/Icelandic leasing company. In the UK they already provide BD's 757 and Palmair's 737. Incidentally Palmair are often voted one of the best airlines in the world... but they are a bit of a niche operation flying grannies for a week of winter sunshine from Bournemouth.
Viking - Swedish Charter - do lots of work for UK tour operators.
Titan - UK Charter
Arkefly - Dutch Charter airline - part of the TUI group which includes UK holiday airline Thomson.

Just had two wonderful conversations with the Gold call centre who could not have been more helpful ^ ^

Went through various options with me, such as flying to Zurich or Munich (to be operated by Jet2 and Astreaus respectively) but said that they had not released inventory yet even though they expected to run them. Ultimately, rebooked onto LH flights (with a bit of help from KVS to convince them that they could squeeze me onto the last seat from FRA to INN by dropping me into Y).

Makes me very happy that there is still so much to love about BA

Well - you may be catching up but according to http://www.britishairways.com/rtad/travel/public/en_gb BA209 on Sunday is canceled according to BA!

I think this is a movable feast to be honest!

Strangely all NCL flights still showing as operating, but perhaps they're concentration on the LH flights and haven't got around to cancelling the domestics yet?
My 177 on the 22/3 is showing cancelled on BA mainpage but not yet in MMB - nor have I received a mail or text.

If BA cancels then presumably, as has been mentioned elsewhere, I still get the miles and TPs. Hopefully this applies to both legs (return not on a strike day) as it looks like we're off to VS for the first time just for the piece of mind.

Shame, as I like the 177 and it was still a 744.

Another NYC trip in the offing after easter so may see you then BA.

I thought WW had this all under control? I am shocked to see only 60% of flights going when BA have been planning for 90 days now?

Hmm does not add up to me that BA can not take care of 100% of people.

Going to share a positive experience:

I called the US EC number, sat on hold for 30 minutes, and then promptly had my first cancelled flight rebooked one day earlier. I went from the cancelled BA68 to a still-currently-flying BA66. It took all of 5 minutes on the phone and the rep could not have had a better attitude about it. I really was ready to lose it, but was completely defused in about 30 seconds.

My EC number seems to have become disconnected from the booking, but that's something I can work out afterwards. Hopefully I can still fly back on the following weekend..!
