Can I checkin a TV in BA international flight?

A normal Samsung 46" LED TV has 56 inches width and 32 inches height but the max allowd dimensions in BA ar 72 inches width and 29.5 inches height.
I spoke to BA customer care and they say since the dimensions of the TV does not fit within the maximum allowed dimensions I will have to ship it using Cargo.
I am dropping the idea of taking 46" TV and would go for 40" or 42" which should help me resolve the problem.
