I just did a dummy booking a few moments ago, redeeming a voucher for a one-way outbound trip, no problem. Easy peasy.

Thanks, Steve. I was playing around. If you use the screen that you get automatically when I sign into BA, it does not allow it. But if I hit the "redeem" button by my evoucher, it allows it. I wonder if BA is trying to stop the redemption of one-ways on-line, and have changed one but not the other? I hope this still works in Sept when I will want to use my 2for1

Yes, I don't understand this either. The absolute last thing I want to do is book a one way and then find that calling BA to add the return (with a fee, I understand) and using the Chase Companion award is refused and I lose my outbound award space Has ANYONE been denied using the Chase Companion Award AFTER the outbound space has been booked at normal award levels and when attempting to add the return space and THEN applying the companion award ??

The 2-4-1 voucher must be applied at time of initial booking -- it cannot be applied retroactively.

@Chuckles, it's been like this for a very long time. I remember posting about it several years ago. I don't think anything has changed recently or is likely to change in the near future.

I'm still confused. Can I or can I not book the outbound space, then call 3 weeks later to add the return space and then use the Chase companion certificate? Or, use the certificate when booking just the outbound flights and then call and add the return 3 weeks later?

You can do the latter. You cannot do the former.

I'll add my own 2017 data point any week now... been about 3 weeks since the spend but only a week since the statement closed. In my case though, I'll take the delay; hopefully gives me longer to use it in 2019.
