If buying premium bonds works then this could be ideal.
Strange that they didn't take PayPal. I renewed my passport last week at the post office and paid with PayPal with no problems.

I'll try again, my MC worked fine in the self service machine so I think it should work. I tried paying my Amex with the card, it didn't work for me......I'm spotting a trend here!!

Amex Premium Plus bonus & share discount?

Hi All,

Can't find this question answered, but apologies if I'm going over old ground.

If I use my BA shareholder discount, and pay for the tickets using my BA Amex, do I still get the 'double miles' bonus for BA spend? It feels like I should, but I can't confirm.

TIA for any advice.

S.

A quick newbie-ish Q on the Amex MR to BA double points deal.

I thought this a good deal for getting an F LHR- HKG trip later this year and a couple of European Y trips as well so I've transferred 150K of MR across.

I now have a thought about my understanding of the scheme; I know that the bonus points are transferred by the end of March but does that mean that they may arrive earlier? More importantly will the standard points post immediately or do they appear at the same time?

Presumably there's no way to book flights on the basis of points that will arrive in the future?

I am trying to book flights to EBB via BA.com and there is no Amex option.

Phoned Exec Club and they "can't make the booking over the phone as EBB is a 'high risk' route"

Now on hold for the web suport team.

Anybody else come across this problem?

Edit - The answer apparently is that Amex don't allow payments as it is a high risk route

Standard points seem to arrived next day, not sure when the bonus ones will appear, other than "by 26th March". And indeed, no means of booking flights unless you have the requisite number of points.

Even if it is high risk of CC fraud, I am making a booking on a UK website with a UK registered card. Why does the destination of my flight make it more likely to be fraudulant?

This will mean I lose out on over 6000 miles.

Because they don't know that you are you?

It's silly, really. They don't believe that you are you over the phone, but they're prepared to believe that you are you over the web...?

So they have my EC card number, my amex card number and my address on both those accounts - surely that gives them a bit of an idea of who I am!!
