It was always going to be a vote for a strike. BASSA have unthinking support from the majority of cabin crew. The real question is how it will convert to action.

Bye bye BA...

Indeed - this seems crazy, like turkeys voting for Christmas.

I cannot see how strike action will do anything other than damage the company's position, which will just result in more cost cutting and redundancies......

HIDDY Dec 14, 2009 7:23 am

It won't happen.

Shuttle-Bored Dec 14, 2009 7:23 am

Ouch - a 12 day strike is going to hurt. Better hope Willie has the lawyers on it to somehow prevent it, or is willing to come back to the negotiating table pronto....

One presumes the unions have opted for an elongated period of action in the knowledge that it is more likely to garner a response from BA management, as opposed to a series of 1-2 day walkouts?

Jumbodriver Dec 14, 2009 7:25 am

Please, just wait a day or too. This has been foreseen...

Twelve days. How very seasonal!

History suggests the strike probably won't actually happen, but the fact that I'm flying away on TG rather than BA saves me an awful lot of worry (as welll as around £3000 - the real reason I booked with them).

That may be, but anyone looking to book now will look elsewhere for the next few days at least.

If nothing else, the BA Board has just become very popular:
