Expert flyer - What exactly is a 'blocked' seat

Just got a free subscription, and looking at my upcoming flights and noticed that on both BA0049 and BA0048, 15 E is blocked

According to expert this is 'The seat has not been assigned to a passenger, however it is being blocked by the airline for some reason. A common use is to allow seating assignments to be under airport control.'

But I dont really get what that means?

Do they get unblocked? Myself and the other half would prefer 15 E and F, but this appears not to be possible

It will be a baby (bassinet) position - so will be blocked until T-72 to be assigned to people travelling with infants. If it isn't required then, it'll be 'unblocked' for general assignment, but there's still a risk of being moved if it is required for an infant making a booking in the few days before the flight.

A fair point. Although just wait for an infant FT'er to pop up now

Blocked = bassinet but also the front rows of ET (the curtain zone).

Also EF is now showing all WT & WT+ exit row seats as blocked, as per the "enhanced seating policy"
