CW miles for flight in F

On a recent trip back to LHR from ORD I was asked by the person at CW check-in if I wanted to upgrade to F for $400 - a special offer. Well, no surprise that I snapped up the offer especially as my ticket was a book and upgrade from WT+ to CW (25K miles plus £700).

Upon checking my Exe Club account I've noticed that I received the same miles and points for the inbound journey in F as I did for the outward journey in CW.

When I enquired about this with the Exe Club a very unfriendly CSR said that a query ticket would be raised and it would be looked at.

I'm not holding out on a positive response, if a response at all, however, I would be grateful if anyone can tell me if I should have receievd more miles and points for the return journey in F or not due to my ticket type and upgrade offer.

Thanks

from previous answers to similar threads, it seems you will get the miles for your original paid ticket (CW).

The special offer at checkin comes with no extras, and this is hardly suprising given that $400 to upgrade is super cheap and therefore you cant expect miles/points as well. If you had upgraded to F at the ticket desk you would have got the miles etc but had to pay about $2000 USD for the priviledge.

So, don't get your hopes up

I would interpret this differently - the original paid ticket wasn't CW, it was WT+ - using miles to get to CW.

If he had paid at check-in to get into F from a fully cash-paid CW ticket, he would be entitled to get F miles & tier pts, but this is being blocked by the fact that he has used miles to get from WT+ to CW.

My thinking is the same as your's tristan727. So I'm not holding out.

Thanks for the replies.

Indeed - if the OP did indeed receive CW points/miles then hopefully their query won't show up the fact that they should only have got WT+ points/miles!

I did a paid UG WT --> WT+ ex-HKG in March and received the 75 points & WT+ miles for the sector.

I believe the OP is only stating that he received the same miles/points on both legs, not how much he got. And how much was that Maxflyer?

Only time I have done this (down in ANU) I was specifically warned that I would not get extra points / miles and asked if I was happy to go ahead on that basis.

I received 75 points and 3,950 miles.

I wasn't told at the time of the upgrade that I specifically would not receive F class miles/points.

Anyhow I'm residing myself to the fact my query to Exe Club is not going to be fruitful :(

Do you still have the payment reciept for the payment and the boarding pass? I would photo copy both and post them in and highlight that you were not advised either way about points and miles and show that you did pay for the upgrade. Worst they can do is decline the points and miles.

I upgraded from WT to WT+ on the return from HKG and wrote in and managed to get credit but think it is just luck than eligibility!

Can anyone comment about how often BA often such promotions ? I know people make successfully enquires when checking in on VS.

I am also interested if an official receipt was issued or if just the F boarding pass was issued. Referring to a previous thread, for those who have read Air Babylon, it would be interested if an op-upgrade was used for this "offer".

If you got 75 TPs then you got the WT+ Tier Points, which, i'm afraid, is exactly what you're entitled to for an MFU booking up to NCW, let alone F. MFUs seem to be treated a bit like mileage bookings - you get no miles or TPs for a redemption booking at all, and for MFU bookings you only get miles and TPs for the class you paid for, not the class you then upgraded to with your miles. There's a lot on various threads on this board about this. You're actually quite lucky that you got the miles and TPs at all, as many FT'rs on here have had problems in the past where their MFU was incorrectly posted with 0 points or miles, which they then had to chase up.

I'm sorry it's not the news you wanted to hear, but it's what the Exec Club will come back and tell you. Also, if it was me, i'd be too busy bragging about the fact I got an F flight for a $400 upgrade in the first place :-).
