BCN Barcelona experience
 

Has anyone any recent experience flying from BCN, I’m trying to get an earlier flight but at present it departs at 15.05, we will be arriving at the airport at around 10.00, what is the earliest we will be able to check in bags and use the lounge?

Others will comment on check in times buts it’s a decent lounge there by all accounts! Large, spacious and good variety of food. It’s quite a walk from passport control and then downstairs

Check in opens 2 hours before the flight (they never open before).
But if the check in from a previous flight is still going on , then you’ll be able to check in for your flight.

Thank you that is interesting as there are a few flights before our one, the airport website says that the earliest you can check in is 3 hours before departure and the lounge says the earliest you can enter is 4 hours before departure?

There is usually a flight each day around 11am-12ish. So if you're arriving at 10am you should be able to check in early.

Was there last month on Cityflyer. The lounge (Joan Miro) in T1 was decent.

You can enter the lounge anytime AFAIK but check in is definitely only opening 2 hours before.
I’m a regular BCN traveler and i did ask the staff there a few times. Only to be told that “BA pays AENA for the check in desk to be manned only 2 hours before the flight”

but as said if the check in from a previous flight is still going on, they don’t turn you away.

Are mobile boarding passes not accepted at BCN?

They are, but presume CIHY has bags to check.

I’ve flown from BCN quite a few times over the past few months and lounge access is VERY strictly restricted to three hours prior to scheduled departure only (the staff tell me it’s an airport rule). Also, I am afraid to say I have found the check-in staff to be particularly unhelpful and they have always (with me at least) been equally as strict that you can only check-in luggage two hours before your scheduled flight, despite being open and checking in earlier flights. It’s not a great airport experience but the lounge is nice.

If you have bags to check and are to London only, you'll presumably (unless an Avios ticket) have the option to Free Same Day Change?

Happened to me once coming off a cruise boat early. No bags to check but worried the main lounge wouldn't let us in and we'd be stuck without much to do after passport control. Ended up in a pleasant if not a little bland landside priority pass lounge for a bit. It was by the BCN - MAD shuttle area.
