Forgotten the rules...baggage on Basic
Hi all - looking at a very last minute trip to AGP. It's been so long I have forgotten the rules on baggage. If I buy Economy Basic, do I get the free bag being Silver or do I need to pay for that/buy Economy Plus?
Economy+
No free baggage on Economy basic regardless your status.
However if you end up on Iberia (so a connection) then their equivalent fare would give a single bag 23 kg checked bag for Golds.
Thanks all - I've been lucky enough to fly for work but it really has been way too long between buying flights...
OK - one last q as I cannot see a way around it - we just need one checked bag, 2 adults flying. How can I book 1 econ basic and 1 econ plus on the same booking?
you cant
As I said in another thread, my personal opinion is that these Basic fares are false economy. Just buy the cheapest regular fare and you'll have the extra allowance in case you bring back more than you left with.
I assume I can add a bag to the booking in MMB afterwards but I have no idea if the price is the same.
What is the fare difference between basic economy and the cheapest that allows one piece per person?
Generally, it'll be more to add bags for one than to pay the fare difference, but probably less than two.
If there's any prospect whatsoever of needing to change your booking on the day of travel, I'd go Economy Plus. |
I gave up and booked Easyjet. Flight times were really good, easy to add one bag to the booking and the £100 I saved will buy a lot of tapas. I'll miss out on the lounge access but I can live with that.
BA really need to look into the flexibility of their products... Thanks for the help though - it did allow me to make the right decision in the end. |
