Honeymoon flight but no seats together!

Slight dilemma. Honeymoon flight to UVF on Saturday in J…had a look at the seat map to get an idea of what seats are free (not planning to pay in advance to select seats) - it would appear there are only 4, all scattered around the cabin so no pair of seats together. Given the occasion, this is a bit of a disaster. Any way of sorting this out other than begging/pleading with other people on the flight?!

No guaranteed way, but speak to the agent at bag drop, and once again on board, and hopefully they'll sort it out.

Playing the honeymoon card won't necessarily help. On that route, there's a good chance you won't be the only honeymooners on the flight.

Agree with you. But you hopefully will spend the whole life together, so don't bother the few hours during the flight. :p :)

If it's that important to you: why not pay up?

TyneTraveller Nov 23, 2015 10:24 am

I think for an occasion like this paying for seat selection might have been the best option at the time of booking (presuming no status). There is a fair chance all sorts of things may change up until Saturday, and some of the seats may simply be blocked out. The best bet would be to ask at airport check in, but still check in online to the best available at the time, which you may just find happen to be two together after all. You could ask the crew or if others would be willing to move as a last resort, but hopefully a solution will appear for you before that. Congratulations, and good luck :)

Ha, I was going to say the same thing. You have the rest of your life together, you need to enjoy the brief periods when you can have some solo time :)

Disclosure: I am not married, there are many reasons why!

First of all let me congratulate you for not paying for seat selection.....you'll need all the money you can get now that you're married.

Just ask the cabin crew to sort you out. There are still some kind souls about who will gladly shift seats to accommodate your request.

Whilst it's a joke you need to pay for a seat in J in the first place the fact is you knew you had this option to select seats in advance.

Describing it as a 'bit of a disaster' is a bit OTT as well. I've been married 15 years and we prefer to go on different planes never mind being split up on the same plane.

My goodness, the seat map really is chokka with only 11D, 12F, 13D, 13G, and 15G available. My sympathies.

Bassinet seats at row 15 may become available as soon as OLCI opens (provided they are not already assigned). Don’t forget though passengers who are connecting onto the UVF from other BA flights will be able to snag these coveted seats earlier than those starting their journey from London.

Looks like 12F and 13G are available - so in the very worst situation, at least you will be sort of able to see each other, and you will be able to give your new wife the opportunity to step over your legs or vice versa.. :)

You might be able to get 12G to swap to 13G if you ask nicely - then you'll be facing each other.. I'm sure something will get sorted out.. good luck

Exactly-I've been on different flights than my GF due to availability differences, but we still manage to find each other at the destination.

I agree it isn't a disaster, as there will likely be someone onboard who doesnt mind moving - however, your honeymoon is the one occasion where spending a bit extra, is worth it!

Hopefully you'll be able to sit together - it'll be a great way to start your honeymoon

Assuming the wedding hasn't been a last minute thing and the flights were booked a little while ago I think disaster should be reserved for things that are less predictable and easily avoidable! Yes its annoying BA fee for J seat selection but its something you know at time of booking so if you want the seats together pay up or take your chances, disaster it is not!

15K is blocked so if you can bag 15G and 15K at OLCI 15J may move for you. Assuming 15J hasnt paid for seat selection and will want a refund from BA?

good luck

Travel in wedding dress, clutching bouquet, with tears running down your cheeks may also help :)

* I'm trying to lighten the mood, OK?

A great shame, though. We did a trip to the Caribbean for a 'special' holiday, and due to an equipment change ended up not sat together for a 10-hour flight, so I know how you must be feeling.
