I'm referring more of the generalised list that was proposed - 'Club Europe for small amount of TPs' for non-EU domiciled BAEC account holders. :p
Tbh. I think for a "Club Europe for small amount of TPs" section the most you are going to get is check the low fares page on ba.com and select the cheapest CE return. AMS, BRU, JER, DUB are obvious suspects.

If you want to get 160 TPs and need a shorthaul+ route there is the list of shorthaul+ routes towards the bottom of the wiki - this list is kept up to date. Again it is a matter of looking at the low fares page and seeing which of these come up cheapest for your dates.

Ah but we are not interested in bargain fares or sales, necessarily. If there was a £1000 F DUB-HNL fare that earned 0 TPs, it would not be admissible into the TP run thread. We are interested in maximizing the TP/£ ratio (we use the GBP as the universal unit of currency :p). We do have a few Y runs pop up from time to time, which if they are under £3 / TP are acceptable.

I don't think it is hard to find anything (the WIKI helps !) but a change might encourage less savvy members to post good deals. For one thing: I have no idea if I need to add a good deal to the WIKI or if there is a moderator for that thread.

Perhaps we can be a bit more friendly and encouraging everyone "to be bold" and edit the wiki and make their contributions.

Yes, a fair point.

I really hope this thread won't be split up. It seems to me there is a lot of benefit in having lots of posts and discussion because nuggets of information emerge which a person might not find otherwise and which are probably of particular interest to some people on TP runs. Back around post 2520 there was a short discussion about connection times at PHX and carryons on CRJs. Given the significance of PHX in 210TP routes and the fondness for travelling without checked bags I'd hate to see this sort of info dismissed as irrelevant (plus it will be very relevant to me next week so a bit of self-interest there).
I think the same applies to the brief discussions about hotels and things to do in HNL - the topic is being discussed in the context of a TP run not a destination.

I like the FAQ idea which might make it a more attractive proposition to do more reading before asking the questions which keep coming up. I agree with agehall in post 22 that people should take some responsibility for doing a bit of reading before just asking.

Maybe somewhere on FlyerTalk there is already a guide to using the ITA Matrix but I haven't found it and have mainly relied on trial and error. I have seen some good tips on how to force overnight connections by using minimum connection times and limiting searches to oneworld. I wrote them down but have forgotten where! That sort of thing seems like a candidate for any kind of general guidance.

Agree that specific threads for specific sales are a good idea.

For me the main issue is that ~ 95% of the fares are out of date/no longer bookable. Maybe it is time to include the booking deadline and travel times in the wiki, and then delete them (or put them in a "no longer available" bucket) when the booking deadline has passed.

^

Some people like to keep the old fares for reference I think. But really they should be moved to the bottom rather than remain in the middle.

A second seconded...

I have tried every fare in the wiki right now and in reality only 1 or 2 actually work. Yes, I am that bored. ;)
Also it would be nice to have more information like date booked, dates traveled...

If I found a 'deal' I would not check every day if it is still there and therefore not remove it from the Wiki either.

We usually know when deals are going to expire so it would not be difficult to add a "Book by" date

There is no technical reason to spit threads regardless of what some people will tell you

You have tried each of the 102 runs listed in the wiki?

The issue is that people don't remove out of date fares that they have added. I think previoulsy people were asked to put a "use by" date as well but that doesn't seem to have happened.

Do you do TP runs henkybaby? I got the impression from another of your posts that you just earn from your normal travel?

Not to be too critical (because what people do here is all out of the goodness of their hearts) but 3 examples from the WIKI

Current Promotions of Interest
from DUB, IL28SALE - to US reported here, e.g. JFK - £932, LAX - £1,127, HNL - £1,127, see post for travel date, book by 9 June 2015
Certainly expired...

£0.82/TP / £1170 / 1420TP / DUB HEL LHR (stop) LCY JFK PHX (stop) HNL PHX JFK LCY DUB / I J I A A A A I J / BA Call Centre (No booking fee) August 2015 I’m DUB based so a bargain / docgasman / AY BA AA US
Sounded great but the BA call centre can't match it... Not even close. Neither can ITA or any site... At least not that I can find.

£0.76/TP | £757 | 560TPs | BRU-DOH-BKK-DOH-BRU | I/I/I/I | Qatarairways.com | pjh981 | QR
I wanted that one... Not bookable (anymore) or I do something wrong ?

Most examples have no information that would help me like:

Posted on [date], found on [source], need to book by [date 1] for travel between [date 2, date 3]

It's of course ok if you don't know all the dates exactly but then say so and please post when you travel yourself.

Does this make sense ?

Yes, I wonder whether the entire wiki should be archived in a post (with a link from the wiki) and we start again using the format above, or something like it.

Yes, we could do that now. The wiki as at the start of the year was copied in to post 2 by Prospero. Perhaps we do another copy in to a post just to capture any additions since January, and start again.

This only really applies to the specific runs section. Once you get past the specific runs all the reference information towards the bottom certainly is up to date so that should stay in the wiki.

KARFA Jun 16, 2015 8:59 am

Just to give you an idea if we did that, this would become the current wiki:

Current Promotions of Interest
  • from DUB, ILR28AP - to US reported here, e.g. JFK - €1,539, LAX - €1,861, HNL - €1,861, see linked post for valid travel periods
  • from CPH, ILR21AP - to US reported here, e.g. JFK – £935, LAX - £1.353, HNL - £1,441, see linked post for valid travel periods

Welcome to the thread — please read the wiki first as it contains lots of information which may answer your question. We keep track of other prices, as well as useful reference information for those planning tier point runs.

Can I suggest:

Price per Tier Point | Total Price | Total Tier Points | Route | Booking Classes | Booking Channel | Credit | Airlines | Posting Date | Travel Dates (if known) | Validity (if known | Notes (if applicable)

I know it looks horrible but as an example it would look like:

£0.76/TP | £757 | 560TPs | BRU-DOH-BKK-DOH-BRU | I/I/I/I | Qatarairways.com | pjh981 | QR | 16JUN | JUL-OCT | book by JUL31 |
Alternatively post the additional information in the thread and simplify the wiki:

£0.76/TP | £757 | 560TPs | BRU-DOH-BKK-DOH-BRU | I/I/I/I | Qatarairways.com | pjh981 | QR | link
When posted and when to be booked and flown are important IMHO.

I don't think this is a bad idea. We have been down this road before and people didn't stick to adding validity dates etc. Maybe it would work this time.

If we did this change do you see yourself becoming a more regular contributor of TP runs and posts to the TP run thread henkybaby?
