Missing API

A few months ago I booked flights with BA in F from LHR to EWR for next summer but since booking I was unable to add the API as when I tried I received an error.

I contacted You First a few weeks ago and they manually added the API details to the booking and said that it should now be visible online but when I access the booking, all I can see is the name of my hotel and everything else, including my passport number is missing.

I have since contacted You First a couple of times and they have said its ok as they have the info on their system but they couldn't explain why its not showing on my BAEC account and said that IT would need to look into it.

Do you think this could cause a problem when we travel?

As long as there is the green tick saying API is all entered then shouldn't be a problem - all my bookings appear as you describe and never had issues

Over the past week, I have had nothing but problems with the API function on the MMB web page. It keeps telling me that my (and my companion's) data are incomplete. I review and confirm the data, then save it. At that point, the site tells me that all information is complete, but a few minutes later it reverts back to "incomplete."

I have done this at least six times, on six different days. Any solutions?

I had the same problem. I mentioned the issue to the checkin agent in ZRH who mentioned that this seems to be a common problem.

The strange thing is that I'd filled out the information months ago, and it was okay, and about two weeks before the flight it then started having this issue.

I have the same problem. I complete API a while ago and about 2 weeks ago it started telling me that it is incomplete and there is nothing I can do about. ba.com has been acting up lately. I had a few canceled flights in my booking and even though I was re-booked and the tickets were re-issued I continue to see the red flashes on my home page that some of my flights were canceled...when I go into the booking everything is fine.

The most common reason for this is if the name booked is slightly different to the name in your passport. (eg Booking in name of Smith John because the traveller calls himself John Smith, but Passport issued as Smith, Ian John because that's the order his mummy and daddy registered him as!)

That will cause APIS to throw a bit of a hiccough, but behind the scenes, a human interface can spot immediately what is causing the wobbler - hence the appearance of the green tick.

The one thing I can think of in my case is that it was an AA ticket on BA metal. The API stuff went wonky with the release of the BA status going from NOSYNC to having the BA booking reference.

OK, but not in my case.

I have a number of bookings, all but one showing APIS info is complete. The exception is the most recent, which happens to have been made by phone to BA.

Simple me. I would have thought that using my BAEC number would have filled in my details automatically. My name, d.o.b, passport number and gender are unchanged.

Just one possible glitch. The confirmatory e-mail had a typo in the salutation ('Dear Mr Xxxxxy') but passenger names and credit card name were correct.

Same problem for me. API info was fine for weeks, then about two weeks ago it decided it wasn't in the booking anymore, and no amount of re-entering it will make it stick. Definitely not a case of slightly different names in passport vs. in booking for me...

This is something I have wondered about...can happily book a route via ba.com and fill in the API detail on MMB (BA) for say IB operated flight with IB flight number or IB operated flight with BA metal. If on an IB operated flight, usually provided with PNR not only for BA but also for IB. When using the BA generated on IB website everything is recognised.....use the IB generated PNR then it wants API detail. Same with seat selection (when it works)....usually need to PNR of IB to get into the seats for choice but BA MMB then usually, although not always recognises the seat allocation.

No wonder I get headaches................

Count me in as having same problem with API...I have 4 flights in MMB - the last one booked this weekend - AA award on BA 197......all info is there and accounted for ......even spoke to CS who confirm all info and there is no further info required but API remains RED asking for for more deeds.

The previous 3 bookings all are good with same Info....so no hic-cup due to name for me.

What does NOSYNC mean?

It means that you don't have your BA code yet. You can see this in checkmytrip.com. You get a booking code to start out with. But eventually BA assigns you a six character code for your travel. This finds its way onto your baggage tags, for example.

This might show up in classic.checkmytrip.com, but for my flight, as it is an AA ticket, that I bought from AA.com, I don't see it. I can see it from the my flights iPhone app. I even got email from the app when it changed.

Thanks Greg5 ......I called AA for the BA booking code so I could add it to my BA ExecAccount...it does show NOSYNC on checkmy trip.com even though it is linked to BAEC.

BTW, after having just reserved my seats, I see that MMB is still showing red with my API. I suppose I won't be able to print my own boarding pass, but I have to drop bags off anyways. I should still be able to do OLCI like I did on my way out here (also didn't print boarding passes on the way out).
