One last question - can you transfer from terminal 1 to 2 w/o going thru immigration? (Arrive AA - leave TAM)

Yes, in Terminal C/D , where American arrives go one flight up (onto the lounge level) and then cross over to terminal A/B. Never go down in Terminal C/D, as that will bring you to immigration.

I will be transiting GRU in January, connecting from DL to TAM, onward to SCL. I will have carry-on only, and my TAM flight to SCL is in J. Will I be able to access the TAM lounge as a transit passenger (without a Visa)?
Also, does anyone know if TAM allows online check-in so I can have a printed BP before getting to Brazil, or is there some sort of transfer desk? |

Under no circumstances should you leave the international terminal (which will also be impossible since you have no visa). Just ask for International Transfers/TAM Lounge and there will be people to point you in the right direction. I have not done this DL/TAM transfer myself, but I have done AA/LA transfers in Terminal C/D and that is how it works there. Hope this helps. |
What about an overnight transit in GRU?
If I were to arrive at Midnight (AA from MIA) and fly out at 7:45 AM (BA to EZE), do I need a visa if I want to go to an airport hotel? I suspect the answer is yes (which is why I am not taking this connection option), but I figured I would check to make sure. |

Since you have no bags, as a J passenger you can go directly to the TAM Lounge, in the same terminal A/B. You wil have to go through security, but they do not ask for boarding pass. After that just proceed up one flight of stairs or escalator and it wil be just to the right. They should be able to print your boarding pass.

Looks like me and the finace will be transiting GRU on 12/27. Coming off JL in F onto Lan Argentina in J. Same terminal?

Anyone done this lately? I am looking at flying DFW-GRU-MIA on AA. I would be in the GRU airport for approx 4 hours. Would I be able to do this without any visa?

No visa needed as long as you stay in international transit area.

While yes this is true, if I was the poster I would still be wary. Technically, this is not a connecting flight and therefore an agent/supervisor might deny him boarding without a Visa. If I were the OP, I would call AA. However, that's not to say that an agent/supervisor will go along with what the TA told him.

Just remember you cannot leave the international transit areas. They are not usually difficult about non-linked connections, I'm told, but you'll be out of luck if your connecting flight is cancelled or some such thing, and they will be nobody to help if you miss your connection because it is not official. Because of that you'll be better off with a visa if you can get one, just to eliminate the possibility of problems.
