Are selfie sticks an issue in carry on bags?

I have seen numerous threads from 2010-2014 or so that say Tripods were not allowed in Brazil in carry on bags, but that was before selfie sticks became a thing.

What's the situation now? I'm not traveling with an actual tripod but a selfie stick that has a handle that can expand to a mini-tripod base. I don't think anyone would know that if I didn't show them in person but not sure what they are looking for in Brazil, or if that's even still enforced. I saw something else from an official site that says selfie sticks are allowed if they fit into the size and weight of the airline. So bit confusing.

It does sound that at least at one point in time, Brazil had quite a vendetta against tripods, which are clearly very dangerous weapons frequently used in nefarious activities on airplanes.
