A June Night in Manaus
 

Hi FT,

I'll be landing late in MAO on June 8th, then leaving early the next morning; thus, I don't feel that there's a reason to get a hotel for just four hours. Not to mention, I've never been to Manaus for any length of time.

I'm open to suggestions on how to spend the night, whether it be for a discotheque/hotel lounge/very long walk. If anyone would want to meet up, too, let me know.

I hate to rain on your parade, but you may be overestimating the nightlife potential of MAO on a Wednesday night (or any night for that matter).

The airport is far from the city center (which is sprawling in any case). A long walk is highly unadvisable for safety reasons.

Your best bet might be the Touchdown, a sports bar not too far from the airport. Bear in mind that if your luggage is not checked through, there might not be any left luggage facilities there (and check in for your onward flight might not be open).
