Extra flights during WC [World Cup]
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-25770491 Maybe it'll help keep down fares. Not sure where all the extra plans will come from, though not the 2,000 is how many are authorized. And, as noted, the airports could be quite overwhelmed. More flights at the same time without extra baggage carousels for arriving flights, extra check-in counters and personnel for departing passengers? Oy vey.

There will not be extra planes. Planes flying on business-heavy routes will be temporarily shifted to serve World Cup needs.
Remember that we are in Brazil, business activity during the whole period of the World Cup (plus some days before and after) will be greatly curtailed

I was in GER in 2006 specifically for the WC and the "alles in Ordnung" Germans were really frazzled. Trains were late, airports were jammed. It seems they THOUGHT they had every detailed covered but they didn't.
So if the Germans struggled then I can only shudder in fear as I think of how the Brasilians are going to cope with the massive influx of tourists. (and I'm not even factoring in the yet-to-be-completed stadiums)
