Boarded the taxi at GRU at 0500 and arrived at CGH at 0515??? I would have been happy paying R110 for a helicopter too :p. Even flying, the direct distance on GCM is 29km so an average speed of close to 120km/hr - that's pretty good for Sao Paolo even at 5am

GUARUCOP taxi drivers are excellent and worth every cent you pay. On purpose we took the time of the drive, to be honest it was not 15min exactly but about 18min. Early this year GUARUCOP taxi driver also made GRU>Paulista Avenue in little over 15min on an afternoon Sunday, this is not the first time.

They drive above speed (limit is 80 KM/h) because they know exactly the points the speed control systems are located, at which points they slow down. But the drive is always safe and never above 120 KM/h. I strongly recommend GUARUCOP, as I said, very expensive, but extremely reliable and fast. And you have no option anyway, the other option is the Bus or Helicopter (which in fact depart from Campo de Marte). They also have a radio communiation which informs taxi drivers about traffic situation and alternative routes.

Btw, taxi fare GRU>CGH is flat rate R$110 (or R$120 cannot recall exactly), non-negotiable by GUARUCOP. The rate GRU>Paulista Avenue is about R$90.

Bumping the thread for similar help...

My inbound to GRU lands at 1:15pm and the bus service (http://www.airportbusservice.com.br/en) will depart at 1:30pm. Either I wait 90mins for the next shuttle or take a cab. I'd rather save an hour if I can get a fixed rate cab.

Does anyone know if the aforementioned taxi service still operates on a fixed rate and how much do they charge?

Blue Tree Faria Lima to GRU for R$271 (promotional fare).
Anyone know if it is continuing?
