Rio 2016
 

The decision is made - Rio de Janeiro was the winner and managed to win over major cities Chicago, Tokyo and Madrid.

It is expected that over the next 7 years the olympics will bring Rio to another level of world class destination. The decision to shift the games to the "South" is in line with world events, where emerging powers such as Brazil are having a bigger role in the world economy.

Rio 2016 will also benefit from synergies because the city will be the main place of the World Cup 2014. Two major events one after the one. Among many of the infra-structure improvements will be better safety, more metro lines, airport, environment treatment and additional hotel rooms.

Great news for the city which some months ago found massive oil reserves. It will certainly generate an economic boom provided the process is well managed.

Yes, with the Copa 2014 final and the 2016 opening and closing cermonies at Maracana, she will be getting quite a nice facelift. Although they will eliminate a nice little park there that my son and I enjoy visiting to feed the fish ... I had read the stadium will be closed for 2 years for renovations and I'm sure the final look won't be exactly as it is here:

That was very interesting video. I can see Swimming, Canoeing, Rowing, Diving. I can't wait to see it coming. It will be greatest Olympics Games in year of 2016. So it will be wait for 7 years later. What about Olympics Games 2020? So thank you for giving me a nice video from Olympics and I can see the constructions will begin sometime in 2010 and it will be completion done in the summer 2016.

I agree it, will be a great Olympics.

There will be new sports such as Golf which was not included in the original plan.
