Missing Zone Details
 

I crossed checked the current *A timetable with the BMI Redemption Zone list, and there are a number of countries with active flights that aren't listed. I've taken my best as to which zone each should be in. Some of them appear reasonably obvious (although the published list has a few gotchas, so it's hard to be sure!), but a few of them are a little tricky, particularly in Africa and Central Asia. Anyone know anything definitive on these?

• Bahrain : 5
• Botswana : 6
• Democratic Republic of the Congo : 6 (only flights are from JNB)
• Equatorial Guinea : 5
• Gabon : 5 (or 6?)
• Gambia : 5
• Iceland : 2
• Iraq : 5
• Macao : 8
• Malawi : 6 (only flights are from JNB)
• Mauritius : 6
• Mongolia : 8
• Niue : 9
• North Korea : 8
• Northern Mariana Islands : 9
• Palau : 9
• Qatar : 5
• Slovakia : 2
• Tajikistan : 8 (or 7?)
• Tokelau : 9
• Vanuatu : 9
• Zambia : 6

There was a ridiculous situation years ago (4 or 5 now, I'd say) where Iceland was being charged as Zone 3 from Europe and Zone 2 from the US. I think in the end zone 2 was settled upon... and as the SK dropped their flight there, so the issue was moot.

It must be back on the timetable, so.

There's an SK flight from OSL now, and LH flights from DUS and HAM, but nothing to the US, so I'm assuming it's a simple Zone 2.

I had an BD award ticket here this easter HEL-OSL-KEF and back and was charged Z2-Z2.

Actually, I suspect Gabon is Zone 6. The only flights in and out of LBV are from ABJ and JNB, both of which are Zone 6.

Just confirmed with the ICC that Tajikistan is zone 5
Scuppers my plans for a first class trip on TK via IST to DYU(Dushnabe) from Tokyo but am considering a trip to ASB (Ashkabat/Turkmenistan) instead. Looks like a very interesting place.

That's not so surprising now that they've moved Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan to Zone 5. This list was originally built when they were in 7 and 8.

I'd love to visit Ashkabat. If you do, make sure to go see the giant technicolour statue of their holy book read to you at 8pm!

Yeah, I was watching a clip of that on youtube..surreal. Will certainly make that part of the trip.:cool:

I have another one, Bujumbura, capital of Burundi, in which zone would it be? 5 as Rwanda and Tanzania? Brussels fly there btw.

I did a redemption to ALG a couple of years ago- the agent who did the ticketing insisted it is zone 6, I had to get the supervisor who fetched an atlas and decided that it has to be in Zone 5 as both Tunisia and Morocco are in zone 5.
