NRT-SEL-SIN-DXB//DXB-VIE-CPH possible routing

Would I be able to do a Z8-Z2 as

NRT-SEL-SIN-DXB-stopover-VIE-CPH, or is this an illegal routing?

I suspect not as that is rather indirect, mostly due to the ICN-SIN part and that there are plenty of one-stop routes and even a direct flight.

That said, YMMV so you never really know to you ask the ICC.

Given that you can fly NRT-CPH direct, I think you're taking the miguel a bit there!

This will be two redemptions.

I think it sounds a bit dubious.

As an FYI I booked a CPH-ZRH-NRT---stopover-ICN a few days ago which ticketed fine. However I was in 2xF, so, I don't believe that there was a CPH-NRT flight available when booking (though I didn't try too hard as wanted to go on Swiss).

SK flies CPH-NRT direct so no F class.

You also weren't routing through the Middle East. It's that part, rather than the direct route bit that is the problem.

NRT-CPH = 5,427 miles
NRT-ICN-SIN-DXB-VIE-CPH = 10,454 miles

Go figure!

I suspect NRT-SIN-FRA-CPH may be excpetable based on what people have reported in the redemptions thread, but going via Dubai is way off course.

Essentially, you could do this itinerary in one stop in Asia or one stop in Europe. Wanting to do it in five flights is asking a little too much.

Thing is, as soon as you go via SIN from SEL/TYO to Europe, it automatically adds almost 2x to the miles. Which I have done twice already. Going SIN-DXB-Europe vs. SIN-Europe directly adds almost no miles in terms of distance travelled.

Personally I think he would probably get away with NRT-SIN-DXB // DXB-Europe-CPH. It's really not that outrageous. Once the itinerary starts exceeding 4 segments, that's probably when they start getting difficult about it.

Definitely 2 awards.

I wanted a simple HKG-x/BKK-MCT-x/ZRH-CPH and was told no stopover allowed in MCT and that I had to get it as 2 oneway awards.

HKG-FRA-CPH would have been simple; HKG-BKK-MCT-ZRH-CPH is anything but 'simple'!

Simple cos there are no direct flights to MCT from HKG! TG was the only option. And from MCT, there are various options, but still, it required a transit enroute to CPH.

In a perfect world, I could have done HKG-MCT-CPH if there is a *A partner who flew those routes but still I don't think DC would have allowed it with the stopover in the Middle east. On say, a normal return *A award on another *A partner programme, I think I could have even done HKG-x/BKK-MCT-x/ZRH-CPH-x/VIE-x/BKK-HKG !

Not sure if it would help you but you could try getting DXB-ICN via Europe, as there are no direct flights. I just got TLV-LHR-BKK-KUL for Z5-Z7 redemption...

TLV to asia is possible via EU as there are no direct flights on any *A southbound. But from DXB- you have SQ, and TG. But OP wanted to fly north anyway, so that won't help him.

Which is probably the reason why DC wants it as 2 awards now.
