Changes to awards

Now does it make sense....

As BD*G, I can book up to 3 days prior departure. But any changes after ticket is issued must be done 7 days prior departure?

Kinda stupid.

Even if you wouldn't be able to make a change, you can cancel at least up to one day before the flight. And then make a new booking.

I'd think in practice they will allow you to make changes up to something like 24 hours before your flight.

It's mad that you can't call up, say, now and book a flight on tonight's late LHR-MAN, get it ticketed and go! The way good old KLM and Flying Poo do/did it!

Or if that's too ambitious how about 24hrs before?!

Why 3 days? It must be the 'go slow' ticketing dept!

Indeed, AA can ticket an award across any of the oneworld airlines at up to 2 hours notice. ^

Delete the text in red for the correct answer. :)

It is still correct - that's why I said 'at least', as I doubted if it might have been up to 0 hours before the flight ;)

After putting me on hold for something like 10 minutes, the agent came back to say, that, yes, on this one occasion, they can change it.

I wish DC would show the entire fare calculation when tickets are issued. I have seen many times when tickets are issued in total error. LH very kindly provided the entire e-ticket if flights are with them!

Well at least they let you change it. Last time I tried, 3 days out, they told me that no, I could not have that nice NZ direct flight, and to stick with the triple-connecting, US-criss-crossing on rickety old UA metal with an F class left over from the Nixon admininstration. Oh, and to go pound sand.
