Folks,

What do you think of the following to allow time in MNL, AKL and SFO ?

DUB-LHR-SIN(stopover)-AKL C 37,500 + £255
SIN-MNL-SIN C 15,000 + £105
AKL-SFO(stopover)-LHR-DUB C 37,500 + £255

Total for 2 = 180k + £1230

Hoping to travel in Sept 08 - when should I start trying to book this ?

Thanks

Brian

Your pricing looks correct. But let's sugest another routing for a litle less miles/ £ .
DUB-LHR/FRA-oBKK-MNL C 30k + £ 202,50
MNL-oSIN-AKL C 18,75 + £ 127,50
AKL-oSFO-LHR-DUB C 37,500 + £255

Total for 2 = 172,5 k +1170 GBP
only a litle bit less, but you may have one stop more in BKK
and LHR-BKK or FRA-BKK on TG is much better availability than on SQ
and you still have all your stops like in your example.

Welcome to FT

As well as endorsing Bertheike's alternative, I'd sincerely recommend doing your trip the other way round. You'll have far fewer problems with jetlag if you keep travelling West and your night flights will leave at times you actually want to sleep. While you might use NZ for your DUB-LHR-LAX-SFO stopover-LAX-AKL legs (NZ new C is as good as United F which would be your only other alternative), you might consider F for one of the long-haul legs on the return (say MNL-BKK-LHR/FRA-DUB). There is an enormous difference between C and F on TG (on which it is fairly easy to get award seats) and the extra cost and miles is not much more. Done on a series of one-way awards, it would be worth treating yourself to F for one long-haul sector. SQ is pretty impossible to get, but LH and TG are very good in F. Don't waste your money/miles on F on United Airlines.

Thanks rangerss75 and Bertheike ^

Taking your advice, going to change the plan to the following :-

DUB-LHR-LAX-oSFO-AKL C
AKL-oSIN-MNL C
MNL-oBKK-LHR/FRA-DUB F

Total = 86.25 + £652.5
x 2 = 172.5 + £1305

Time to call our chums in the call centre !

If you can make separate arrangements HKG-MNL-HKG at a reasonable cost I would suggest:

Ireland-LHR-HKG(stop)-AKL Z1-Z9
AKL-SFO(stop)-LAX-LHR-Ireland Z9-Z1
Total cost for 2 150,000 miles + GBP1,020.00

This would leave all longhaul J on NZ (same as Virgin Altalntic).

Not sure if you would run into "most direct route" issues with BD by making stop in SFO instead of LAX but hopefully they would be reasonable about this. You could always surface SFO-LAX or even LAX-SFO-LAX, or worst case take UA SFO-LHR.

Good luck!
