Miles Posting Incorrectly
 

This week I flew MAN-LHR-MAN with bmi.

My MAN-LHR flight is only posting as 300 miles. Now am I correct in thinking that I should receive a minimum of 600 miles for domestic, as per the bmi website?

"all bmi UK domestic flights and partner flights of less than 600 miles in distance = 600 miles earned for each one way"

Secondly, bmi IT systems failed to recognise that I had already registered for the golden ticket promotion at the weekend which would earn me an extra 150 miles for online check-in. Stupidly, it is posting 300miles for my return flight LHR-MAN, but only the 150 miles for the outbound MAN-LHR.

I've always read to 600 miles thing to mean you get the 600 if you are on a X1 earning fare, if you're on a X0.50 earning fare you'll get 300. That's what's always happened to me.

No idea about the promo, perhaps they're taking the miles back from others after awarding me a few too many ;)

I suspect you were on a standard fare (something like NOWBMI basis) on the return which only earns 300 miles i.e. 600 x 0.5, and a tiny fare on the outbound e.g.(NBABY fare basis) which only earns 150 miles, i.e. 600 x 0.25.

You have to pay quite a lot of money to earn 600 miles from MAN-LHR these days.

Well balls to that then. I'll start flying back with BA on MAN-LHR-MAN in future. At least I get a sandwich!

I buy the second pricing in from the left when purchasing a ticket online. i.e. Standard fare - I always thought that it was 600 miles minimum for domestic, other than on tiny fare.

The problem is, there are 3 tiers of standard economy - discounted/economy/mid. How does one know which tier they has purchased when making a booking.

When you make your bookings on flybmi.com and get through to section 4 (the summary) it will give you a break down of the fare basis. The class this is booked in will depend on the level of miles you receive, standard fares earn anything from 50%-150% and the amount of miles for each class is shown on the 'earning page' of the diamond club website or your earning and spending booklet you received when you upgraded to gold.

... but on BA I understand you get even fewer miles on the cheapest fares. On the few times I have flown BA MAN-LHR i've only received 125 miles on a cheap fare (credited to AAdvantage).

Although it's a little annoying that this doesn't carry through to the email confirmation.

I'm also at a slight loss for my latest flight to undestand how they've calculated the miles, but if there is an error, it is in my favour.

Flew GLA - LHR in C on Sunday and that has posted as 1200 membership and 2200 destination miles.

I'm sure there is a reason for the extra 1000 but I'm bu**ered if I cant think what it is!
