Dublin Lounge
Hey....
I'll be flying into DUB and will probably have to spent a couple - or six - hours at the BMI lounge at Dublin. I have read it's down to basic. However, just curious what to expect in terms of snacks... crackers/biscuits? - or even food items/fruit? Do they have bottled water to take away? Thanks, Homer J. |

Not a place to I would want to spend six hours in, Dublin is not too far away and there are some great spots local to the Airport where you could pass the hours by, also be aware that should you be a smoker there is no smoking anywhere inside Dublin Airport. |
Being a frequent traveller through DUB i could think of nothing worse than spending 6 hours in the bmi lounge. While its comfortable for an hour before the flight there is nothing in the way of actual food, just biscuits/crackers and drinks. May i suggest you book a day room in Hilton Dublin Airport (its about 40euro) and its way more comfortable.... Or alternatively as the previous poster says, take a trip in to Dublin city, the aircoach runs every 15 minutes to city centre and costs 12euro return

Thanks very much.
The Hilton option was very good. And 40 Irish Pounds is not bad. And if time and weather permits a short tour of Dublin also sounds great... Time will show... I also have Priority Pass, thus also have access to the Anna Livia Lounge. I presume that is a "generic" airline lounge, probably with less to offer than the BMI lounge... ? Non smoking, so that is not a problem - but thanks for the info, in case I did smoke! |
I agree that you won't want to spend the afternoon couped up in the delights that Dublin airport lounges have to offer. As you have cards for both lounges, and they are next door to each other, you can graze the food selections to make up a better feast :D
bmi is good for booze, salty snacks and biscuits (cookies), and the coffee is good. Next door, the Annalivia lounge is better for cheese, crackers, fruit and branded snacks. I've been glared out of it in Analivia for taking bottled water - it's in direct line of sight of the dragons. bmi seem not to mind, and there is an island service area - if you're worried, just load up from the other side and no one will see you! :D And the DUB lounge does have miniature bottle of water, unlike many other bmi lounges. Also there is free wifi leaking from the Annalivia in to the bmi lounge. |

If you do go into the City remember leave plenty of time to get back out to Airport, transport is very poor yes you do have Airport express bus, but traffic is too unpredictable and Dublin airport still has no rail link, have to say Hilton sounds good to me though. |
hours of opening
flying DUB-LHR on Monday morning, 6:45. What time does the lounge open? I am *A Gold.

If you are using this lounge as a code share(ex KLM/AERLINGUS
Bring your Gold Flying Blue for KLM :) or applicable card with you. I am assuming this is the lounge that accomodates many carrier programs on the second floor I had to fight with the Dragons(they were nice and let me in)said they had no access to the records. It wasn't easy...also for some reason my # wasn't on the boarding pass.

You would think that they would open a new Star Alliance Gold lounge seeing all the Star carriers go there. It really needs to be upgraded with net access (actual PC's) and better beverage choices, maybe a few pastries or croissants!!!
They should model it on the Star Lounge in Vienna or Zurich !! Now those are lounges that you could spend 6 hours in . The BMI Gold lounge in Belfast City is 10 times better than the Dublin one with direct boarding from the lounge to the aircraft. |

Is this down to bmi though? as it is, Dublin airport in its present form is way too small, there is just no room in the present airport, that said do agree re: beverage choice. |
I agree Dublin Airport is too small and we need a brand new one building terminal 2 or3 times the size. I think that they should knock the whole lot down and start again. The new terminal does look nice but when will we see it .
I have to say even though it has been much down graded the Aer Lingus lounge is alot nicer than the BMI one. |
Looks like this thread took a left turn somewhere. The bmi lounge, while not well stocked, is quite large. And it serves as a *G lounge as well as bmi & LH's joint lounge. Definitely needs pastries! :)
However, it is not the AnnaLivia lounge next door (the one being diuscussed, by the sound of it) which serves more or less the rest of the world, including Priority Pass and KL Golds. I also thought that KL stopped offering the co-op codeshare with EI? |
