Spanair help

I've posted in the European odds and ends forum but perhaps some regulars here can help.

I'm on the lookout for decent JK fares ex LHR.
I'm puzzled by Spanair's website and its service fees
We discussed cheap deals last year, but what happened to them?

The thread is linked above. Thanks.

I have booked JK code share flights by calling Spananir in the UK. If I recollect correctly this was handled by Avia Reps in Crawley and I got a hand written paper ticket! I got the number from BD reservations because Arecife wasn't a code share.

On that occasion the ticket would have cost £350 if buying separately and I think I got it for £180 in the end & that was Xmas.

I have also noticed that Opodo often list Spanir flights without a service charge, but these have been internal Spanish flights. I've just booked a business class return from Valencia to Malaga for £118 return, which I thought was pretty reasonable.

Hope that helps

Alan

You're right... JK seems to have disappeared from the consol scene entirely.

Here's an Irish consolidator which will quote fares at you in EUR from UK airports. Often there's amazing value to be had - miles better than Travelocity, Expedia etc. Currently offering LHR-BCN on IB for €106 all in. Also details of fare classes are given to you. Not much use to you in this instance, but useful to know about.

Hi <b>aj</b>... Can't believe that the BD/JK low fares have disappeared since I last did a Spanish trip in October...

As I remember, I didn't have any probs with split tickets (bought separately from both airline websites) - MAD is a relatively hassle-free connection, bags go thru, and JK apparently couldn't have issued me a BP for my BD connection even if it had been on the same PNR

My only other suggestion is to try Opodo or Travelocity (I couldn't find any JK fares at all on Expedia) as a multisegment trip from LHR - for some reason, the search never seems to find the best fares just by doing a simple LHR-BCN vv

Now that we're down to 1 a day to MAD, are there even any decent fares at all on BD?

If anyone finds a good deal, Mrs Bloke needs a small MR to keep her BD Silver

When I called JK in the UK last fall, I distinctly remember having the call handled by BD reps. The agents had easy access to BD's computer system to compare the fares (which were often different on straight LHR-MAD returns) and tickets were printed on BD stock (and delayed in the post during a pre-announced postal strike because BD refused to post them until within a week before departure).

I would say your best bet is to give that number a call, even though you might have to wait in the queue for quite some time, because that way you can have the agent look through a combination of BD/JK fares, or one or the other. I don't know if they would have the ticket issue surcharge like JK do in Spain. Incidentally, it's not just JK that does that - IB do as well. Here's the number that I used: Reservations: 44 (0) 8701266710
