Clarification of some facts on the A321
I flew a month ago on the A321 to TFN in C class, and was dissapointed at the 3*3 config. When I contacted Donnington Hall they said the the aircraft was configured 3*3 in order to have the inflight entertaiment installed. They also said the the C class seats were indeed wider.
I think I'm being sold a pup here does anyone know better? |
I suppose the movies and audio I have enjoyed over the years in the front cabin on various narrow-body Airbus on other carriers have been hallucionations.

If they reckon that the C class 3+3 seats are wider than the Y class 3+3 seats then the aisle must be narrower (or the A321 is in some way related to the Tardis). And if the aisle has been narrowed then I think the emergency evacuation certification might have to be repeated.
BTW were you actually seated 3+3 in C, or were the middle seats blocked ? |
The aircraft was sold as if it were 2*3 and on the left hand side the middle seat was blocked, however no so on the right hand side. The official line is "ground staff have been instucted to leave the b&e seats free when possible to allow more room & comfort".

The full reason, and I quote
"You are correct in advising that this aircraft does not have flexible seating and the reason for this, is to encorporate the provision of in-flight entertanment. This decision was taken by our most senior management, as it was felt that entertainment would be more beneficial for a flight of this duration. Although the seat pitch is the same as in economy , the seat is on average 2 inches wider" I wonder if the most senior mangement are the same ones who decided on the Bento Box, or tha Knock to Glasgow was the next big opportunity? I'm also very puzzled about the 2 inches wider seats, that must make the aisle 12 inches narrower than economy. |

I think the proper reply to their response should be "what are you smoking and where can I get some?"
