Accumulating Status Points
Apologies - a quick search both here and on the BMI Website didn't reveal my answer: I know I need 16,000 points to make silver. How many do I earn for each BMI/Partner flight in each class, over what distance etc. Thanks for your help.

The best resource for this is barella's guide.
Essentially, there's a 600 minimum for UK domestic flights and an 800 minimum for all others. Double miles for business, triple miles for first. There are some exceptions (eg SQ) and you need to be careful of discount economy and web fares (50% and 25% mileage respectively) on bmi flights only (but it's thought you can book *A codeshares on bmi metal and avoid this problem). |
Sorry, forgot about barella's guide.
Barella, I've noticed there's a little error with AC: It currently reads: c,y,b,e,g,h,j,k,m,q,r,t,u,v,n,o,s It should actually read: c,y,b,e,g,h,k,l,m,q,r,t,u,v,n,o,s (Note J is out and L is in.) |
Thanks for all this. Almost all my questions answered. So, If I travel on a BMI Flight to, say BHD, I'll get 300 miles and 300 status points in Discount, but not web-special, economy. If I fly the same route under a LH Codeshare do I get 324 (or whatever the exact mileage is, or 600 or what???

As a OW Veteran, this doensn't seem very clever for BMI! But as I will be using BMI a lot over the next year (to BHD, no longer served by BA from LHR) I guess my revenue will be going via LH to get more miles!

You're right - it is spectactularly dumb. It's also very new (if you have a look over the last week or so you'll see a bunch of posts where we realised this was the case) so it may not last!

Thanks for pointing that out, I've updated the site and pdf now.
PS Have a look at the bottom for an added suprise! [This message has been edited by barella (edited 05-22-2003).] |

What I want to know is why Virgin have kept the 'Atlantic' tag and not renamed as 'Virgin Airways' or 'Virgin International' now that they do flights to Africa and Asia? |
